am sorry but that car despite being rare does not look in particular good condition ?? possibly just a poor advert, its certainly not in concours condition. would have thought the rsoc mag would have been a much better option for selling it. ebay user id : i love a bargain !!! |
Indeed but they still do it :) change in circumstances usually means, I need money and lots of it :) so what the heck lets have a punt :lol1:
|
I remember the RS Mexico & MK11 RS2000's, once saw a MK1 RS2000 as well, to be honest I do not remember the RS1800:wonder: must/might be really rare car? still a lot of money though
Lee. |
The RS1800 was a homologation special, there should have been 400 built, but it is believed only 50 where actually completed. So, if genuine and in original condition, then it will be worth a fortune!
|
That doesn't look like 35K's worth to me, doesn't even state the mileage.
|
Looks like its worth a couple of grand. look at the state of the engine.
I don't think I'd be parting with £36k to someone whose grasp of English is so poor, you'd have to question everything they say. My neighbour has an S plated 77 mexico: trust me, those Ford fanboys polish every last thing ! look at the state of the pulley wheels: rusted up ! |
A mk2 RS2000 canary ?? yellow with black fishnet recaros- memories !!! must have only been about twelve year old as well back then !!
|
Guess he's been looking at how silly prices of Sierra RS500's are going for, and wanted some of he action.
|
That will sell dont be mistaken about that. The rs1800 is the rarest of the mk2's you dont even see them at fordfair. Fair play to him if it's a minter he will get his money. My dads friend had a mint rs500 with 15k on the clock he sold that for 45k to a collector in germany ;) ive seen rotten mk2 rs1600 sports and 2000's sell for upti 7k. But im abit ford mad aswell as scooby mad lol

I am on the Committee of the RS Owners Club and have been around the cars since I was 17 The RS1800 Registrar has the only Red RS1800 left and has turned down in excess of 60k for it. I have a Concours MK2 RS Mexico but that is only valued at 20k. The RS1800 is completely different as far as values go. There is an Irish Gentleman who has 9 of these!!!!! The car will sell as Demand far outweighs supply. It is a genuine car that is well known to the RSOC. There are "Certain" MK2 RS1800 Escorts out there that will change hands in excess of 150k  |
But you could have 1.5 gt3 rs or 3 gtr ......and theyd be just as fast !
..oh hang on a minute :lol1: |

Might have a bid, its literally just around the corner from me :D
. . . . . . . . . . . . . nah..... :lol1: |
I nearly bought an RS1800 new back in the day, but was put off by the thought of having alloy heads - surely a recipe for disaster
Went for a late Mk1 RS2000 instead :( for similar money, as Ford couldn't sell the RS1800s for love nor money. |

I ended up with a MK1 Golf GTi |

The BDA only had a twin choke 32/36 DGAV carb which strangled the engine power wise. I once was offered an original RS1800 rolling shell to re-shell one of my old Mexico's into for £1200 C/W Log book etc. I declined as I thought it was too much money so re-shelled it into a 1600 Sport instead!!! Idiot LOL |

Probably 40k+ Still silly money as it needs restoring as well. But, such is the rarity of these cars
The MK2 RS2000 was quicker, Had better interiors (Unless the RS1800 had the Custom Pack) and more reliable and cheaper to fix!!!! Idiot LOL LOL, hindsight............... to think I sold an MK2 RS2000 in 1988 for £1800 :brickwall:brickwall:brickwall And as if that wasnt bad enough, bought an XR3 :brickwall:brickwall, that wasnt even an 'i' :brickwall:brickwall:lol1::lol1: I think that is the shortest time I ever kept a car, dont know what I was thinking about. |

My other half owned a genuine Lotus Escort in her youth. I have pointed out on several occasions that she should have kept hold of it :( |
