snetterton today :)

wow, what a day. i saw a couple scoobys there today, anyone here?

after a nice drive, and finding out that petrol is only £1.29 in places ( £1.44 in london ) we arrived at snetterton to try out the new 300 track. never been before, so couldnt compare, but we loved it.

just a couple questions, how bad is this? and is it something to be worried about (rear wheel lifting)

wow, either heavy driver or too fast in to corner, me thinks some tighter suspension is needed...

Good pic though, how much was the day?

RE54 14 June 2011 10:16 PM

£199, great value, wasnt busy, and the afternoon was dead. lots of open track to practice

wrx9181 14 June 2011 10:16 PM

Looks good fun

leecalcars 14 June 2011 10:30 PM

definatly suspension and over exasperation into corner.

L2PB 14 June 2011 10:38 PM

£199 thats cheap, just booked on at silverston £399 with a discount to £299...

Ill have a look at their site for more track days.

How much is it with insurance for day ?

RE54 14 June 2011 11:58 PM

i didnt get insurance.

also, another concern... after coming off a hard bend, and then pitting, i parked the car up, then when i started it back up, it was running rough, and was miss firing. i put a few extra litres of fuel in, and it was fine. the thing was it showed half a tank on the gauge? is that comman?

Might of been your fuel pump or just down to the fact that you have been giving it some and the engine was hot plus it was 21c+ today so I hope you let her cool down after a few laps ?

Great pic by the way :thumb:

one full lap mid each run, and then a full lap prior to coming in, its a 3mile track so should be enough.

thing is, as soon as i put just afew litres in, its fine.

cars only 330bhp ish, not sure what my next upgrades should be ready for another track day

tjmatt 15 June 2011 12:40 PM

I vote suspension mods - I've not seen roll like that in a while. Were you still braking at that point? (I don't know the track!) I can't imagine the outside front wheel is at a particularly favourable angle to the tarmac with that much roll, although maybe its just the photo angle making it worse that it looks.

The best mod anyone can do especially if doing trackdays is investing in a set of 6 pot ap brakes or 6 pot brembo's. The four pot suffer from brake fade and the 6pot set up is ideal for trackwork. The AP 6 pot caliper is the same caliper they use on the Koinsegg etc

A lot of roll on that. Standard suspension ? Get yourself some coilovers, uprated ARB's and some brakes!

Jonny_ 15 June 2011 01:48 PM

faaaark me are all car track days that expensive?

snett is £95 for a bike day

ScoobyDoo69 15 June 2011 02:19 PM

Definitely always have over half a tank when on track. Fuel surge is a bitch! :)

Is your car on standard suspension? Looks like it doesn't even have springs fitted judging by the movement?

Not if you shop around and book early :) £99-£165 for most :)

We did Snetterton 300 in April, was awesome, dry and perfect. Cost £130 IIRC :)

You're braking way too hard and way too late into Murray's, Hence why your car is so unsettled.
A set of either 22 or 24mm roll bars/links & some BC coilovers will certainly cure the body roll, But will make it a bit uncomfortable on road.
Looks like you had great time though :thumb:

RE54 15 June 2011 11:56 PM

i was pushing it a bit too hard, but only so i could learn the limits of my car, much safer on an empty track than on a road to find out i CANT push that hard.

i found the brakes to be ok, first on the list is some suspension upgrades, then brakes, then onto some more power :)

weeeeeeeeeeeeee
