Good bye Scooby and SNET.

Hi All,
The WRX went today. With Tracker and road tax due at the end of this month costing about £300 along with two rear tyres and a juddering clutch any month now needing replacing I have cut my losses rather than throwing another £1000 at it I have called it a day.
I may go back to 2 wheels to commute to work. I have seen a 125 today £16 road tax a year and easily a £100 less a month in petrol along with £125 insurance a year instead of £99 a month.
Sad to see it go but not that sad.
It was quite a relief to see it go in the end.
I will still be loitering on this site as I like being part of this community.:thumb:

:( get a classic, you will be 130kg lighter to begin with :lol1::thumb:

graeme jones 14 June 2011 09:35 PM

Cheers fellas looks clean in that photo think that was a few years ago now.
My thinking is I have had 3 years enjoyment and I think if you don't fully enjoy something then the £ per smile is more than it should be then get rid.
I will easily be saving £200 a month so worth it in the long run.
Had some good times in the car and the tunnel run was one of them shame didn't go to more of them.

Or a jdm sti newage :thumb:

kj200sx 14 June 2011 11:01 PM

I bought a fusion 1.4 tdci £30 a year tax and who knows how many miles to a tank and kept the Sti for the weekend win win situation

Ste RB5138 14 June 2011 11:59 PM

It makes sense in the long run unfortunately. Bloody taxes!

jaygsi 15 June 2011 12:25 AM

You can't beat a classic in my book, tones of parts about. Cheap to buy. And just keep it as a weekend car, or everyday car if you don't do many miles. Or do what i do use the misses car :)

Boosty 15 June 2011 12:35 AM

Don't compare a 172 with a wrx ffs. Iv had a cup and whilst they are fun, you get no room, you have to rag it to death, they are awful in any condition other than dry, they don't fit more than 2ppl comfortably and I know which one I'd rather be in long drives or even in a crash.

Carlh 15 June 2011 07:24 AM

See you soon! :D

dunx 15 June 2011 09:58 PM

My pal "KojaK" has an OEM WRX and he sees off all these hot hatches, usually at the launch...

i own a clio 172 as my daily driver, they aint that bad for room and im 6ft1 and weigh 100 kilos, ive even "slept" shall we say in my car a few times ( all admit its cramped in the back pmsl), it LOVES being ragged to death but the downside is any clio over 50k miles,,, just feels like a high milage french car ive discovered and so its gonna cost me cash to get it to feel like it should

i also own a classic impreza STI,,,,, they are ALOT quicker than my clio but i think the dephaser is fooked on it which may be a reason for that i guess but daily car so not bothered about speed tbh as long as its nippy

ps: 38mpg,,,,,,, christ i wish im getting 27mpg from my 172,,, which i thought was major improvement over 160 miles to a tank in my impreza,,,,,, I CANT EVEN GET 38mpg IN A BRAND NEW FOCUS tdci OR MONDEO AT WORK SO CHRIST YOU MUST BE FRUGAL

wrx fifer 16 June 2011 06:09 PM

you'll be back they always are lol

graeme jones 16 June 2011 09:09 PM

Doubtful I can't see me wanting to pay £240+Road tax and £1000+ on insurance unless its a supercar. Lottery win anyone?

s70rjw 16 June 2011 09:30 PM

Enjoy being on 2 wheels, it'll be worth it as you'll save a fortune.

yellowsierra 16 June 2011 09:48 PM

save some dough and get an sti and get the Insurance all paid up as well. Still use the bike for work and keep the Sti for weekends.....Simples

Ian

AndyC_772 16 June 2011 09:52 PM

I'd stick with the bike. My Honda CBF125 did 130+ mpg and was great fun. Even my current bike, a Z1000SX, does well over 40 mpg - compared to my P1 which does about 22.
