What boost or psi are you running
Hi all
Want to get some clear figures and numbers . List your engines and mods too. Really want newage sti 2 litre and what boost it can take on standard engine as ive herd of ones running over 500 hp on standard internals and don't hear any of letting go ? Obviously if the thread takes off all engines etc welcome as will help others So I want a list of facts please Thanks Mick |
I'm in a classic but running a JDM STI V9 bottom end. Mixed with a TD05 20G at 1.6 bar boost max. Touching 400 with no problems, yet...lol.
Very strong engine the newage STI lumps, just ask Banny. Sure he's at over 2 bar on his standard engine and huge turbo. |
500 bhp on standard internals??!!!! I don't know if that is safe but I have a good friend of mine that owns a subaru sti MY05 2lt engine and is currently at 415bhp and everything is perfectly safe. He is using a FP68HTA turbo with appropriate supporting mods (injectors/radiators etc)

there is not one car quoted above running over 500hp on a 2.0 litre. have you even any idea how much it costs to build a genuine 500hp car? 500 hp on standard subaru internals, that will last all of 5 minutes.
|
oh, ok sorry about that i thought your were running a 2.33. and you kept it together for 10 months. did you drive it like a granny banny?

at over 2bar im amazed it ran for ten months, makes you wonder how long oit would last at 1.8 instead, bet would be in the years.
A bit of a warning to all, don't get hung up too much on what boost, mapper will optimise it for best power/reliability. Too high boost and you will break the engine eventualy, be it 10 days or 10 months it will let go. |

try that on 10 cars and a high number will let go. I doubt any tuner will advise you it being safe to run anywhere near that. but you pays your money you makes your choice. |
Banny's car didn't break after 10 months. He broke it for bits...
If a car is setup properly by the mapper then you'll be amazed at what you can run safely. |
That's the whole point of the thread guys
The facts only No slagging off etc please No need . |

1.8bar for me, any less than that is pretty ghey tbh ... forged bits in a 2.0 litre, md321t, 740 injectors etc.
TX. |
Fact is it's ALL in the mapping. A 300bhp badly mapped newage lump will go pop, whereas a car mapped by one of the best (Paul at Zen for me) will run 400 quite safely. And in some cases 500+ as many have proved.
Ofcourse they need to be cared for too but that's a given. |
STD 2002 STI + AET-Turbos, std. fit GT3076 hybrid @ 2+ bar for the last year or so...
Last time JGM checked her over he said there was no knock... GRD made over 500 bhp on a std. STI lump, IIRC. dunx P.S. Had some issues with the ecu claiming BCS failure in 6th gear Wu ha ha ! |
Brill info guys thanks and keep it coming
