Might still buy it tho ;) |

|
Looking forward to this being released.

Looks amazing. I've got Oblivion for the PS3 and like that, but as someone else has said, it's finding the time to get into these games now.
|
Picked up oblivion in the steam sale, put around an hour into it and it has been added to my huge backlog of games i "need to finish that i bought in a steam sale" :lol1:
And i just picked up another one today  :lol1: |
Time to resurrect the thread as Skyrim is out next week.
I've pre-ordered mine through Amazon (may well be the first game I've pre-ordered) and I got an email from them this morning: As you've pre-ordered The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, we wanted to let you know that Bethesda, the game's manufacturer, have been in touch with us. They've confirmed that all customers who pre-order The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim from Amazon.co.uk will receive a 'Premium Quality World Map' included in the game box. For more information, visit: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.h...cId=1000592243 Always nice to get an extra for nowt. :) and it seems the graphics aren't a killer like they used to be so I won't need to SLI my GTX 570. (which is good as I bought the wrong bloody mobo at the time) |
not ordered mine yet, pondering on wether to order it on steam or not, can just set it downloading when i go to work and play it when i get home :d
|
Or order it now, and have it delivered to work like I am :)
|

Anyone played this yet? I'm 4 hours in and pretty impressed so far , apart from my horse is a physcopath and keeps trying to kill me.
|
i have not that far though just escaped at start and me and that guy started down that path, spent 25mins in Blacksmith messing with machines, so far i like it.
On Xbox |
PC version is a little fraught.
Turns out you have to set your sound playback to 44KHz just to get the damn thing to start.... Yeesh. Aaaanyway - my summary: So far, so Oblivion. Which is not a bad thing. I like the smelting / smithing / tanning etc - you get to make and improve your own weapons. Plus you have dismantle stuff to know what it does. Same goes for Alchemy: you want to know what an ingredient does? Eat it. Poisoned? Whoops. :D Want to enchant something, you need to breakdown a magical item to learn the enchantment - all good stuff and adds layers to the game I did still have something of a brown pant moment the 1st time I fought a giant - the ground actually shakes when he's running after you. Yes, after you. You think I'm gonna stand toe to toe (or face to kneecap!) with a guy that kills you with one blow? Oh, and don't talk to me about Dragons..... :) |
I'm not sure if it is a glitch but one hit from a giants hammer sent me flying 200 feet into the air. I defeated my first dragon last night on my 3rd or fourth attempt of being roasted alive. It took me about 200 arrows to take the blighter down.
|
Magic works really well against the Dragons. Wait for them to land and burn the buggers.
I've found couple of firebows (one Imperial, one Orcish) and these burn for Fire Damage as well, they really help! (apparently after lvl 10 they get harder and after lvl 15 come in pairs!) |
So whats the verdict on this so far? I've just picked a copy up for £22 for my 14 year old son so hope he will like it.
|
I used to play games until I took an arrow to the knee
:D |
I looked at this on Amazon last night £22.99 wondering if to get it.Looked again this morning, its now £27.00 :brickwall still not sure after looking on you tube, graphics don't look that good and most gameplay seemed to be gamers just wondering around the map with no real objective. On the other hand though RAGE has been reduced to £11.99...
|
Might look at this one after xmas, Is it discounted on Steam?
|
There are LOADS of sub-quests available within the game, just flipping loads. My quest screen was chocka with the damn things and I stopped talking to people just to give me chance to catch up on them all.
There are layers and layers in this game - you can just go gung ho and be a tank character, but even then you can build up better armour and enchantments yourself, to improve things even further. I've maxed out my smithing skills so I can make the best armour in the game and am enchanting like mad to max THAT out, to get the best buffs added to the armour. Basically you can play the game to whatever style you like. It fits around it. I'm playing a sneaky, magic wielding archer and can kill loads of things without them even finding me - or running over the traps (that I don't set off) and listening to the bad guys dying behind me, 'cos they just set them all off :D |

Imagine this as a response to a potential future girlfriend when she asks "what have you been doing today?" :D
 Oh what the hell i might just get it,seeing as it is the holidays.I'll know if i've been playing too long if i start growing a beard. :D |
Amazing game unfortunately spoiled by a few random quest breaking bugs on the 360, i was fortunate and managed nearly all of the achievements until the thieves guild quest glitched on me at the last minute .
|
My son just got this the other day and he's loving it so far. Graphics look very good even on his diddy little 19" tv (santa's gonna sort this out). Game are selling it for £22
