wheel wobble
Hi all :)
got a prob with steering wheel wobble on my 2001 wrx been gradually getting worse at first it was only doing it when at about 40 mph + but now doing it at low speeds even at a crawl the steering wheel goes from left to right any ideas would be appreciated Thanks :-) |
Get an alignment check.
Check the tyre wear you're getting. Make sure your wheel nuts are tightened up properly. |
just jacked car up tyres look fine no sign of uneven wear all nuts tight even bushes look ok tried pulling wheels back and forth got a clunking sound on the drivers side front seams to be going down the middle of the car :(
Check the wheels vertically, horizontally and diagonally. That should help decipher the problem.
Get soemone to move the wheel while you look for the source of the "clunk". I would start at the bottom ball joint, track rod ends and drop link.
Seized calliper? I had same issue
Thanks for all your suggestions much appreciated .. took it for its MOT yesterday and even they couldnt find anything wrong with it passed with flying colors .. why are scoobys so confusing lol ..
If it was a seized caliper you would either have no braking from that wheel or more likely a red hot disc both of which would be obvious.
Thanx everyone for your advice your all stars :)
Got it sorted was the tyre on nearside front out of shape so back to a nice normal smooth drive yippeee :-) |
