Boring i know but i am condidering buying one of these to wash car and clean paths etc.

Any one use one as i am worried they may be a bit powerfull and do damage. Costs are reasonable 50-200 quid.

Rottie, I use a karcher unit. Cost 70 quid from makro, costco do them aswell. Use the high press side to get the brake dust off me loys, and bugs bird poo off the windows. I u do use the high pressure on the body work but stand quite a bit back to reduce the force of water on the car. No damage and paint removal so far. Do not point it under your scoop as you will flatten the fins on the intercooler. Hope this helps

I've been using a karcher one for about three years now with no ill effects to my scoob.My brother got it out of halfords as a birthday prezzie for me.

Its got plenty of pressure and is ideal for taking the heavier deposits of dirt off before finishing off the car with a sponge.

It's got the seperate small hose for lifting up cleaning solution and this is dispensed at low pressure,then you just give the lance a twist and your back to full pressure.

It's also ideal for taking moss and crap off walls and the driveway.

Go and buy one mate you wont regret it.

I have a Karcher unit too, it's great. It's especially good for blasting brake dust off the wheels, although I use it all over the car to remove mud and grime before finishing off with a sponge.

Highly recommended.

I run wash and wax stuff through mine, no problem! I usually soap it up, blast it off, soap it again then go round with a sponge then blast it off again, works a treat!:D

It's good fun doing the paths too, although you do get wet, well I did but then I could drown in a bird bath!:eek:

Paid about £100 for a decent karcher one but then again add up all the money you would spend going to the local jet wash every weekend :eek:

Use one on mine too gets the crap off great and is very good to get all the ****e from under the wheel arches, I's a great tool and saves a load of time.

There wasn't any snow about, masses of rain though, I hit a puddle and aquaplaned over it and on into the wall:( I was quite chuffed tho, didn't even stall it:D

I actually used my washer for the first time in months the other day, haven't felt the urge with the car being battered:rolleyes: oh well, best fix it up, then I can use mi washeragain:D

Its like colouring your paths and drive in, once you start you cannot stop or it look silly,

I took the laquer off my alloys on my escort turbo a couple of years ago and had to spend £200 getting them refurbished, you have been warned

Yep. I've got a Karcher too, used it on my previous Escort for a year and also on the Scooby for almost a year now with no ill affects.

The intercoolers been mentiooned but also don't spray it through the grill onto the radiator it will potentially do the same damage.

The same goes with the underneath of the car, it will easily remove the sealant from the car.

460 model paid about £150 for it. Use it every time I wash the car but do stand at least 2 to 3 foot back.
Be extra careful around any seals or external stickers.

Careful of doing your alloys too close if there is kerbing damage as the laquer can begin to peel off.

Oh and don't try using one on a Fiat Uno as the paint will come off (personal experience!)

I was chatting with JasonH about wanting a pressure washer for Catflap yesterday. Was quite impressed 'cause Jason was giving his car a good cleaning with one and it looked a lot easier and better than by hand.

Can anyone tell me the best one to get that is not too expensive, are these Karcher ones the best for the money?

Also a big thanks to Mark (wax wizard) for the mint job you did on the scoob yesterday, I can see my face in it! And thanks Jason for sorting it all out and for helping him to get it done...we owe you a drink or 2 mate!

I've got a Karcher something or other Jet Washer thingy. Use it on the scooby, and it's great. I use the low power nozzle, cos the ultra high one, which you can use to remove moss on patio's might not do the paint job a lot of good, hell, if it can **** five year old moss from stone, i dread to think what it can do the scoob's paintwork!

suffice to say, in the many years of using it, it's always worked and has not seemed to trash the pain. Saves a lot of effort as well.

i washed my car with a jet gun .. cost me 310 quid for it .. the gun fell off the holster an bonced on the front wing put a dent in an took the paint off thanx to subaru dealers in mansfield im now 310 quid lighter ... use a sponge an leather youll do a lot less damage an its easier on ya pocket too .....

I use it on the Scoob, don't know if I would trust it on the MX-5s hood though :D :D

I have upgraded my pressure washer with an HKS Dump Valve, FMIC and a set of 19" OZ alloys. The thing now strips the tarmac off the drive :D

PS I use it every time I clean the car and as long as you're careful, it's the bo11ocks!

i used 1 on a gorgeous white escort rs turbo and took a chunk of paint off it!!!...i stick too a good hose and bucket now...dont ant risk but it hassle getting out and plugging in etc etc ...my view anyway lol
