Litchfield Type 20 post powder coating

Have have the Type 20 for 6 wks now.

First some pics as was, plus one with it's little brother, the 2001 WRX which I sold this week:

AtJ breaks cover! :D

After powder coating by Pentland Powdercoating (thoroughly recommended if you're north of the border). Previous owner preferred debadged look, but I'm more showy:D, hence obtained original badges from Litchfield and Japanparts:

Was thinking about getting a new splitter at some point. Is the HT Autos one just as good in terms of fit and quality as the Prodrive one? Any other suggestions?

Andy

Looking good. I agree the current splitter looks a little faded?

Very nice car mate!!
What kinda money did you have to spend to get the wheels powder coated then?

Cheers

Nick

Cheers Nick. :)

£235, including an ancient Peugeot 205 courtesy car, done up in purple paint and lots of decals. The decals blocked out the back windows, lol! Very happy with the quality of the work.

Was away on business in London when it was being done. When Ms Jock collected me from the airport the next day, she had to confess that she had already kerbed the N/S/Front wheel! :lol1:

Tut tut! Best look to trading her in then!! :D
That's a good price for the powder coating though... :)

Looks great goes really well with the black! :)

joey_turbo 05 June 2011 10:59 PM

I'm sure the finish is very good, but couldn't you have picked up a spare set of them wheels, in silver for less than that?
They are the 5x114.3 PCD, that only fit 2005 STi's aren't they? You can normally get them for as low as 100-150 quid, because they don't fit any other models.

Wouldn't have anywhere to keep 'em mate, and freshly powder coated is likely to be better than 2nd hand.

Have thought about getting either new or 2nd hand 18s when the current set of Goodyears wear out, prob next year. Pretty fussy about finish though!

Ta Immy, I think so too. Anthracite btw. :) I thought about black, but am happy with what I settled for.

Nah, it's a pretty slow market these days! :lol1:

Saw anything from £100 to £350 for powder coating, these guys had a good reputation - I went round for a chat with them before booking in.

Jeeez Immy, are you noctutral? :lol1: Off to bed, Ms Jock is calling! ;)

Love the decals, I should have some for my T25. The original badge on the boot lid are to subtle, and have had drivers behind me squinting at the boot lid trying to see what it is?
It does not help having the silver badge on a dark grey car.

This is quite normal and very frustrating behaviour for the opposite sex.

What you have to do is train them by saying,

'Wheels and Kurbs don't mix' to Ms Jock continually whilst she is driving. The message eventually gets in and then you have no further problems once this bad behaviour has been corrected in this manner. Then all you have to do is just stare at her when nearing a curb and she will instanstly say with being prompted 'Yes i know wheels and Kurbs don't mix' - Sorted ! :norty:

Good luck with it. Worked for me

If not trade her in
Hope this helps

Steve :lol1:

She looked quite "teary" when she told me - I felt a bit sorry for my lass and said "It was bound to happen sooner or later". ;)

Cheers Lucky. Agreed! And cheers for the wheel colour advice a while back. ;)

Are you selling yours now? Thought I saw something about that on here?

Litchfield's sell them "after the event", just send them an email. They may ask what car you have.

rickya 06 June 2011 10:22 PM

Looks the business mate :)

Being a nerd that I am I would remove the Impreza badge under Sti & put the Litchfield badge there instead!
HT Auto's front splitter is good quality

Cheers Ricky.

Impreza badge looks screwed in. Do you reckon it's just stuck on?

rickya 06 June 2011 10:50 PM

Stuck on. On a nice warm day borrow the Mr's hairdryer and slowly wedge (with soft plastic instrument) & peel off. :thumb:

I removed mine on my Spec C. Looks much better otherwise it gets way too cluttered with the Subaru Oval badge, Sti Pink rubber badge, Impreza chrome plaque, Type 20 sticker, Litchfield emblem!! :D

By the way is that Callum's old car?

It is. Callum seems pretty famous!

And I don't have a "Mr"! :lol1:;)

Rob

What brand does he sell Rob? Aren't HT Autos the best folk to see about an HT Autos splitter? Or is Gary "HT Autos"? :wonder:

paulT25 07 June 2011 07:35 AM

My car is at Iains so I may contact him and see about having some decals fitted.
However, being the A-line model , he likes to keep it as a low profile car. Which I do agree with in many ways.
It does tend to suit the grey paint, and low profile spolier, and no bonnet scoop.
I will see?

You would be better off with an OE splitter sure Iain will be able to source you one, unless you dont mind going through 2 or 3 HT autos splitters

I sold the refurbed wheels on here a while ago when I got the GT1's.

Were they refurbed STi wheels? How much did you get for them? Is it true they only fit on STi's?

Hey Banny.

Do you mean they're brittle and break too easily? Litcho's front lip is over £400 inc VAT, which seems silly money! Prodrive is half the price!
