Anyone keep bees?

Are there any other bee keepers on here?
We got our first hive last year, split the hive earlier this year and tomorrow we're going to extract our first honey, yum :D

I assume you mean amateur/hobby bee keepers?

I'm quite interested in this, might do it when I buy a proper house.

Was speaking to someone at work that used to. It sounds surprisingly easy.

So far for us it has been really easy, we just stuck them in a hive, fed them bee syrup over winter and let them get on with it. In return they've given us a huge amount of honey, there is 44 frames with approx 1.5 - 2 lb honey per frame. We're going to take 18 frames tomorrow and extract the honey.

I don't keep Bees yet - I'm a bit peed off as it goes.
I went to a local pet store today and asked to buy some.
The chap said "We don't sell Bees"

I said "Yes you do! - You've got one in the window"

I keep bees albeit unintentionally as they have a hive in the cavity wall near the fascia boards. Going to leave them there for now as they are no trouble but if they start being a pest I'll get the local bee keeper around to move them on.

The idea of keeping a hive certainly is attractive to me. Might look into it a bit further. Thats a heck of a lot of honey you have got coming.
