Jeez, what a day.
So, here I am out in France, working on the house.
Today's job: connect hot water from the barn conversion though into the kitchen, using PER tubing. OK, that was the easy bit: the first part of the job entailed piercing a 30mm hole through a stone wall around 1100mm thick:( Long drill went in so far and then stuck. On the other side is a large, very hard, stone. So, muggins decides to remove it from the other side, and re-cement bits around the hole once it's through.:luxhello: Again, that's the easy bit. FOUR hours, count them, FOUR, smashing bits off and trying to clear mortar from round the stone. They are random, so I have NO idea how thick it is, but I'm already in 30cm and no sign of the back:cuckoo: I've given up for today, after it turned 6pm here, so as to get some tea at a reasonable time, but will have to try again tomorrow:(:( Whoever told me that owning a property out here was hard work was dead right! Oh, and my back and right arm are now singing a very unhappy luittle tune:(:(:( |
I had to core a 4" hole through a wall for a fan yesterday, 7 1/2 hours. Stone and concrete lintel with 3/8 rebar through it, think yourself lucky :D

That's what my lad said as soon as I mentioned it: "Did you hit a rebar?"
Nope, just a VERY thick, VERY hard stone:) |
