1-pull up the gear stick surround,(from the handbrake point)
2-once pulled out the way, theres 2 screws either side holding the stereo surround in place
3-once the screws are out pull the surround outwards working upwardsd till u get to the top and it feels as if its going to break but keep pulling, plastic clips holding it in place,
4- next there will be 3/4 screws either side of the stereo holding the stereo and storage box in place,
5- regardless of single or double din u will need the stereo bracket and screws for the next on to hold it in place,

i have pics somewhere and will pop them up later

I've deleted my version of the stereo removal as it was total nonsense and related to my experience of removing the stereo from my bugeye.

I can't believe Subaru have changed the way the interior is put together so dramatically, it's completely different

The explanation above is all you need.
