can you spin the oil pump manually?

i remember years ago when i built a rover v8 (buick) engine you could remove the distributor and using a mandrel and an electric drill you could run up the oil pump pressure prior to engine start.
just wondering if you can get to the oil pump on an ej20 as mines going to sit around for a few moonths before this project is finished.
just makes me feel better!
cheers
carl

Have to take the cam belt covers off. Oil pump is in the centre. Looks like this:-

I pull the fuel pump fuse.
Crank it over for untill I see the pressure build on the oil pressure guage.
when cold this takes a frightenly long time! You can see why engine damage is done when cold.
Put the fuse in and fire the engine up

Disconnect the cam sensor, or crank sensor.
Have been told its best to remove plugs too, but thats if its been idle a while.

remove the plugs regardless. There won't be any compression to work against.

what about removing the oil pressure switch a pumping oil in at 30 psi?
