Wont rev past 5000 rpm???

Is this because its still restricted?? It's a subaru sti type r v3....

bigsinky 27 May 2011 03:37 PM

nope its because something is wrong. could be any number of things. more than likely ecu related.

scooby-boy-123 27 May 2011 03:39 PM

Oh dear!!! Thats a pain just sounds like its hitting the limiter!(

Glowplug 27 May 2011 03:59 PM

Do a ECU reset and see what errors show.

Nice one people il give it a try

scooby-boy-123 27 May 2011 06:13 PM

Sorted lads thanks very much only got it today ;) ecu reset for the win now to get a proper remap. Wonder what caused it :-/

joz8968 27 May 2011 06:37 PM

Did it not flash any codes up after the sequencing routine?

Anyhow, looks like it cleared :) - did it pulse the CEL on/off with evenly spaced flashes/voids, for the all clear?

Well all ive done is reset the ecu;) id need to plug it into a diagnostics to get the codes wouldn't i?? Itll be getting done as its gone again now so must be something up.

bigsinky 27 May 2011 08:18 PM

nope plug the black leads together and count the flashes. 4 long 2short = error 42. 1 long 8short = error 18. ecu error codes can be found somewhere on here.

I think you may benefit more from finding the 'search' button.

Yes well at the moment im really busy with decorating my new house so our p.c and internet are disconected, so searching using the iphone is abit whack but i will be doing some proper research as soon as im finished doing the house!) just thought as it's a forum and this is what they are for (helping the needy) i'd start a thread for some quick answers and maybe a quick fix ;)

scooby-boy-123 27 May 2011 11:19 PM

Just a quickie but my speedo cable isnt connected as its broke! This wouldn't be causing trouble surely :-/

Really?? Lets hope so ;)

joz8968 27 May 2011 11:46 PM

Yep. There's a roadspeed sensor on the gearbox and if it gets no reading, then it tells the ECU to limit revs to around 4,500rpm.

As said, reconnect the speedo cable so the speedo works, and you should be good to go... :)
