Servicing schedule, conflicting finds!

Hey,

I have taken ownership of a 53 STI PPP with no service history on 53k miles!

What would you change on it?

I downloaded the service things from this site, the service manuals. For both the 2004 STI and 2002 Impreza (which mine is). It seems to suggest inspecting things rather than replacing. Even the cam belt says to inspect at 30k mile intervals and not replace for a longtime, more like 100k miles I think it was. But then I read it should be 5 years/50k miles!?

Do I change diff oils and such! I firmly believe the cars history was lost by the owner and not forgotten about. It has had one female owner from new. But safer to assume nothing has been!

If it's got no service history I'd give it the major service, cam belt un all.

After that you can get it back on the service history. A partial history is better than no history at all.

Do you guys follow some sort of chart or list? Seems very long and vague on the downloaded ones! Service history would/will stop at me whatever car as I like to do all the work myself! But I do log all receipts and make a spreadsheet saying what and when (inc mileage) things were done!

There is a std SSS (Subaru Service Schedule).

But some tuners/specialists like to stick to their own, revised version of it, based on their experience/what they deem fit to carry out, and when.

Coincidentally, only last Fri, I had absolutely everything done on the service schedule for my Classic's 45k cambelt service. Ergo, from now on, I have now 'reset' the car's servicing needs, and will be using API's services/services (geddit?) from now on...

Do everything but most importantly the cambelt asap, I wouldnt want an engine rebuild for the sake of not changing the cambelt.

I have a bit of detective work to do prior to that as the owner said the cambelt was done 2 years ago at a Subaru specialist in Featherstone. It is possible I can trace some history!

Thanks guys!
