02 wrx tapping noice...HELP

Hi all. I bought my car 4 days ago and noticed a couple of days ago a tapping noice when cold and only when im accellerating. I phoned the garage in which they said take it in and told me the mechanic put the wrong oil in so they flushed it and put the good stuff in. Anyways goes into it this morning and tap still there and again only when cold and only when accellerating any ideas? Really want to get it sorted before warranty runs o:confused:ut

Ive no idea he said he completely drained it but im not clued up on things like that. He told me it would have done no harm to engine but others say that it could

My bug has a very tappety sounding engine, has been like that for the 5-years I've owned it and is fine. Had the tappets checked, trust the guy's who've done my oil change when I haven't done it myself. One garage has even commented on it being the noisiest engine they've heard, but it pulls strong and has been strong even after being modded.

Did you test drive it from cold? Maybe it was always there and is nothing to do with the oil? Touch of piston slap maybe??

Unfortunatly it was warm when i test drove it so yeah quite posdible it was there before very annoying. As long as she runs good for a few yr i might just have to put up with noise cheers for the replys folks

other than that she is a gem!
