IF ANYONE CAN HELP PLEASE
Basically I have a problem with my JDM STI Blobeye.
The problem is that when you put the steering on full lock there is a clonking sound but when the steering wheel is straight the is no clonking noise, even when taking a normal corner no clonking noise. The clonking noise when on full lock comes from the front third, bottom of the car. When I put the diffs to full rear and put it on full lock the sound is lighter but still has a clonking noise. When on auto diff and on full lock clonking noise Can anyone help me as the electronic diagnostic does not read the problem.:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::c ry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry: |
Could be a bush thats worn or a cv joint, you would have to get the car on a ramp to see if there was any play there.
Tony:) |
I have to agree, def sounds like a bush or even a bearing.

Have a feel of your belts, the one that services power steering may be worn, and slipping when on full lock. That is what happened to mine. You will be able to feel wear down the length of the belt, and possibly the teeth of the belt coming apart.
Cheap part, and easy to fit. |
Took it to my local subaru specialist and they are saying that it could be a gear box problem something to do with the bearing. Bloody scared me when he said it could be gear box problem and the worse case he might need to refurbish the gear box. :wonder::wonder::wonder::wonder::wonder::wonder::w onder::wonder::wonder::wonder::wonder::wonder::won der::wonder::wonder:

Can I confirm, the noises are when stationary? If so, get yourself outside and check the belt.

The clonking noise is when the steering wheel is on full lock and driving it forward or backwards.

cv joint mate ;)

Hi guy
Why is it happening when diffs is on auto but when diffs is rolled to the back the noise is lighter (but still there is the noise). |
this will be due to the fact that when you adjust to rear diff, there is less stress going through the front cv joint. its under more load when normal. i'd definately agree with the other guys. Definately sound like your cv joint. Good luck mate.

nah mate it wont bring up your abs light unless your wheel bearing is shot as well, in which case the inner shaft will move in the hub making the abs ring hit the sensor.
