Anybody know if these are genuine or copies? They are about £100 less than most other places.

no idea if its a copy or not but mine has a mounting plate on the bottom where it sits on my intercooler.
so i doubt they are universal fitting.
mine is for sale by the way so drop me a pm if interested. got original box and scooby parts receipt for £260.

Lots of cheaper replica (FAKE) parts going about - RAYS nuts, BOV's, FPR's all seem to be commonly appearing frequently. Usually not a lot of differences, but if you know what to look for you can spot a fake quite quickly (unfortunately not easily through just single online photos)- quite a few Japanese forums/manufacturers have guides which can be found through google.

I believe you get a hologram on the original HKS DV's, Ive got a SQL 3 but I have to be honest I aint checked to see if its on there (but their website says the originals have holograms)

djandyg 24 May 2011 03:46 PM

hologram sticker or not, its doesnt prove its genuine.
HKS released an official statement about the amount of fakes, and the fact many of them are now so identical to look at that its impossible to tell visually.
they said the only way to ensure your getting the real deal is to buy one direct from one of the authorised resellers listed on there site.

id be pretty certain its a fake tbh.

So would I. :(

kj200sx 24 May 2011 07:31 PM

a guy on the 200sx forum took one of these apart fake and a genuine and they were identical inside just no hks badge/sticker and a £100 or so in you pocket with the cheaper version

Might be ok on a DV if its a copy but what about a critical item - wheel nuts or an FPR if either of them fail there can be disaterous results potentially fatal

Hi Mark

I never had you down as a VTA / loud dump valve sort of person.........more of a technically minded, rock solid "sound as a pound" James May sort of a guy.

have you had a mid life crisis ?

Most of my mates went out and got very large motorbikes the same time as I got my bog LOL
