Andy Forrest TD04 Hybrid users

Hi im thinking of fitting the above to a bugeye so i can get the best of both worlds,my question is whats the score on injectors ive read the bugeye uses 380s plus 440s  either way do they need upgrading and how good are the turbos. Im only looking for around 300bhp so think they may be the way forward :thumb:

ginger321 23 May 2011 05:14 PM

think its 440s on your car mate. powerwise they should be good for over 300bhp easily

antdye2008 23 May 2011 06:51 PM

i got one of harveys hybrid td04's on my bugeye and it made 295 bhp with 440's in then i changed to the sti pinks and it made 309bhp with 326lb/ft, thats with bob rawle mapping it.

Its a great turbo and i achieve full boost by 2800 rpm

bugeyejohn 23 May 2011 08:18 PM

Thanks guys so i could get away with the standard ones but maybe it might be wortwhile upgrading them so there nowhere near there limits. :thumb:

antdye2008 23 May 2011 08:49 PM

iam not sure what the limits are on standard injectors, i only changed mine because i wanted to max the turbo out (or as close to maxing it out as poss) But even with standard injectors in you will be very pleased with the results as i was.
I will have a look for my power graph on the comp and post them up so you can see the differance between the 440's and sti pink injectors with this turbo.

Ayde 23 May 2011 08:56 PM

I put sti pinks in mine when I fitted the AF hybrid, have you checked the mod lists and expected power outputs on his website? For the sake of £150 or so for the injectors plus a couple of hours fitting it's worth doing rather than maxing out the standard ones.

Ayde.

298bhp on my 2000 classic.

Mrchips 23 May 2011 09:20 PM

300 and 310 torque on my classic, love the turbo, great all round really.

johnny_d 23 May 2011 09:33 PM

As a matter of interest what sort of boost are these pushing to get these results as I'm considering going down this route

bugeyejohn 23 May 2011 09:36 PM

Ive just been looking on Andys website and i must admit hitting full boost that early sounds pretty good plus i like the idea of having a rebuilt turbo with a warranty. It looks like the injectors would be on or near there limits so it would make sense to change them. Cheers guys i think my minds made up,i had been thinking about a vf35 or similar but tbh i dont really need more power than the hybrid can produce. :thumb:

scoobyride 23 May 2011 09:41 PM

intresting figures folks! As above what boost are you's running to get into the 300's on the TD04 hybrid???

Ayde 23 May 2011 09:49 PM

Mines running 1.35bar, as your comment, I was looking for a VF35 but didn't fancy spending around £300 on something I could not be 100% sure on so I picked up a TD04 for £30 off here and exchanged it on the hybrid.
I also didn't want anything that would put to much strain on the gearbox.
Just to add the mapper told me he thinks they are a more predictable option over the VF35 as he finds they can produce various outputs.

Thats exactly the same reasons as me,the cars done 60,000 miles now so i don't want to push my luck to far and after a couple of not so good experiences with used turbos id rather go new :thumb:

When you upgrade your injectors don't you guys upgrade your fuel pump as well? I haven't seen anyone mention upgrading their fuel pump on this thread.

Mrchips 24 May 2011 10:29 AM

I'm running 440's at 80%, I made the mistake of going three inch turbo back, so lost a little spool but your only talking 200rpm ish, running 3 bar of pressure, updated fuel pump.

Yeah, I fitted the Walbro before the injectors went in.

Ayde.

beliblisk 24 May 2011 08:05 PM

I am runing Td04h on 1,3 bar with these mods:
3" TBE
Walbro
3 port selenoid

The rest is standard(440ccs,internals)

....but ill go for VF 34 or 35 with few more mods to get in 330s:)

antdye2008 25 May 2011 07:44 PM

mine is running at 1.45 bar, i also went for a harvey smith wrapped upipe too, changed my fuel pump when i bought the car for a walbro

ginger321 26 May 2011 02:49 PM

my sti 5 is standard apart from a green panel, walbro fuel pump and NGK 7 spark plugs and managed 319bhp on 440s
My last sti5 did 334bhp on 440s with a sports catted dp and hks hi power exhaust and the above mods.

Is every one still running all 3 cats I have vortex middle and rear

MartynJ 04 March 2012 11:06 PM

A Bugeye WRX will have 380cc injectors from factory, so an upgrade to Pinks may be worthwhile when changing to a TD04 hybrid.
Have ran a few of these and quite like the turbo, very spooly and good value for money for 300-320bhp.

What about the cats mate

veerinder9 17 December 2012 08:47 PM

Does anyone have the td04 hybrid for sale?

veerinder9 17 December 2012 09:55 PM

Bump, is so pm me please!

veerinder9 17 December 2012 09:55 PM

If*

yabbadoo4 17 December 2012 10:08 PM

ive been thinking about 1 of these too. had my td05 mapped by andy f to an estimated 315bhp which is great but it spools a bit slower than id like. would it be worthwhile changing over to the hybrid as id get roughly the same bhp (300 or so) i do have a decat dp and api ported an wrapped headers and uppipe and k&n induction with rez delete to go on which i imagine might help get some earlier spool. andy said we could maybe hit 340 with the extra bits fitted and a remap again.

veerinder9 21 December 2012 09:32 PM

Bump
