The walking dead

Not sure at the moment...

Is it me or is it just following the standard mini series tick box formula

What started out out as a promising first episode, has drifted into plothole city.

and now we have the mandatory "guest star"

hodgy0_2 17 May 2011 09:54 PM

yes -- and it is one reason I refuse to get into them

how I laughed at my work colleagues over that crap "Lost"

"have they been found yet?"

"well we have to wait until series 338 to find out -- but gripping stuff"

yep i'm sure it is

Gary WRX 18 May 2011 07:44 AM

I thought it was a great series - thoroughly enjoyed it

Luminous 18 May 2011 07:52 AM

I have enjoyed it too, was better than a lot of other stuff that is on the box at the moment.

I do agree about Lost, that is one program I could not get into. My attention span is reasonably long, and the constant flicking about through the time line just as I was "getting into" a scene really annoyed me.

+1. Think season 2 has been given a fair few episodes too. Way more than S1.

Hopefully it will be kept. The main issue I have with US series is that they get canned so quickly. If they don't keep ratings high they are dropped - even good stuff like Lie To Me.

Lie To Me
Human Target
Stargate Universe
The Event
Caprica
Flashforward
Sarah Connor Chronicles (it did get better :) )

I think they only thing I like watching that hasn't been cancelled is Fringe - and that was a skin if the teeth to keep that going to S4.

53 18 May 2011 10:02 AM

And Smith with Ray Liotta, was good that :(

Walking Dead started well but like most apocalyptic films/shows it disappears up it's own bum hole. Just hope S2 is a bit broader :)

bigsinky 18 May 2011 10:57 AM

we were talking about this in work this morning. might give it a go to see what its like. only 6 episodes is that right?

Gary WRX 18 May 2011 12:18 PM

So does anyone know when season 2 will be aired? Good to hear there will be more epesodes

Nothing official just yet so I would think not until next year. I'm going to buy the first couple of graphic novels (comics for adult to the uninitiated) because I hear there are particularly good.

speedking 18 May 2011 12:53 PM

Good series, enjoyed it. Don't understand how so many zombies can survive on so little 'food'. Glad I don't live next door to a CDC.

To add to your list: 'Dark Skies', canned after 1 series, albeit 20 episodes.

billyray911 18 May 2011 01:01 PM

Unfortunately, the story line/subject has been covered time and time again and can't really break any new ground.
WD covers the same ground that Romero was covering decades ago-I'll still watch season 2 though,as it's easy watching.
Get yourself The Wire on box set-that didn't disappoint (me!).

scoobyverysoon 18 May 2011 01:14 PM

Enjoyed it - at first it reminded me of 28 days later and I am legend but it had its own twist cant beat abit of zomibe action :luxhello:

glad I recorded it as the sponsor adverts gets on my nerves and they seem to be 50 times louder then the programme (RAGE) lol

Absolutely agree. It seems I just get into something and them BAM, the yanks decide to take the series off the air. I was most annoyed at them getting rid of Firefly years ago, due mostly to the fact that they put it on telly during the graveyard shift.

The Walking Dead is a good series, and as mentioned, far better than a lot of tripe that's out there.

C4 is doing this now with The Event - moved to midnight presumeably to allow to die quietly. Personally it suits me to watch my progs a day late as i get to FF through the adverts. Only downside is our box is knackered and won't record some channels (Atlantic it just refuses to record).

Just a heads up that Series 1 is getting re-run on FX ready for the start of S2 in October.

Proper horror - not gaylord vampires and pantie wetting warewolves.

Wasn't it only 6 episodes?

I watched a few but there was adverts every 5 mins. Looks ok but has been done 100 times before. Zombies really needs reinventing.

EddScott 27 September 2011 04:42 PM

S1 was only 6 episodes, S2 is 13 episodes.

FX is a PITA for adverts. I just record and watch the following day. Anything I really watch I always watch delayed so I don't have to slog through the adverts. :)

joey_turbo 17 October 2011 08:33 PM

First episode of season 2 is out for download now.

andythejock01wrx 17 October 2011 11:21 PM

First episode of S2 wasn't bad. Good "herd" attack, pity about all the praying in church and navel inpection! ;)

Looks likes there's gonna be some new characters.

Carlh 18 October 2011 07:20 AM

Walking Dead rocks! episode one of Series2, was tense. 10/10 for me

se02 episode 1 was aired in the US last Sunday. Is available to d/l in all the usual places - it is a good start with the plot developing nicely
