and magazines? Thinking of buying one this morning to use abroad. 14 day trials to many mags/papers sound good.

I just had a quick read of this http://www.amazon.co.uk/forum/kindle/TxGPT17594YQYV and it seems you will have free access to the Kindle store.

Thanks, but I gather most are finding the experimental web browser can work abroad, the only question is if you have a kindle magazine or newspaper and I am more interested in these than books. Have an iPad but in the sun you can't read it, roaming fees off wifi are horrific and you can't get kindle magazines and newspapers. Zinio and similar are good but roaming fees to download a colour magazine are just silly. Wifi is a bit limiting.

Got a kindle for holiday and it was ace. Periodicals downloaded at no charge and handy for Internet access without roaming fees when delayed due to bad weather and then volcanic ash for a total of 30 hours. Much smaller, lighter, more readable and battery lasts ages compared to iPad.
