Airbag Light

Hi all,

I have a 2002 WRX with the STi interior (transplanted) and the airbag light stays on. I assume this is something to do with perhaps seatbelt pretensioners etc.

How do I get rid of the airbag light on the dash?

Thanks

Not a Scoob but the works van had the airbag light on and that was a sensor on the pretensioner.
Only way I know of getting it to go off would be to get the part replaced and get a main stealer to reset it.

Did your WRX have side airbags?
If so, did you replace the seats with the battery connected?
If so, that's the cause of the problem.
If not, just get a dealer to run the diagnostics and they'll tell you...

BTW Seatbelt pretensioners are part of the retractor inside the B pillar. Changing front seats would have not affect this part.

I couldnt tell you if it had side air bags as std as the car had the interior already replaced before I bought it and dont know whether the swap was done with the battery disconnected.

Sounds like im going to have to visit a stealer... grrrr....

I read on other forums that it should be a case of putting a 3.3 ohm resistor into the connector but im sure theres a wealth of knowledge here before going anywhere else.

Resolution to this problem is as follows:

2 x 3.3ohm 0.6w resistor from Maplin's for 21p each (one for each seat.)

Place one in each clip underneath the seat.....voila...airbag light now off...!!
