What does the oil catch can do?
Sorry for the newbie style question, but could some nice member take the time to explain its function in simpleton terms, cheers

it takes all the harmful gases out of ya engine.mine is fitted to vent to atmosphere

just remember u will need to empty it from time to time but most of them have a level indicator on so u know when to do it,hope this helps

For emission regs. the crankcase oil fumes are normally fed back into the induction system to be burnt during combustion. A catch can system re-routes these fumes into the 'can' which then needs to be drained regularly or may have a drain back to sump pipe.
As you can imagine, feeding the fumes into the induction system effectively contaminates the mixture with the effect of lowering the octane rating. JohnD |
