Valve clearance and Cam shaft condition!.. Need to find the tapping noise!

Hi,

Stripped rocker cover off today, and checked clearance. See pics.

The camshaft did have some light scuffing marks on a couple of them. Nothing you could feel with your nail, but visible to the eye?...,Is this normal.

I can't see anything on the pic's that would concern me mate, does the noise seem to come from the head area then does it?
Have you got a video of the noise?

Any ideas?

Have you checked to see if you have a spark plug loose or an exhaust leak on the headers as that can cause a similar noise to that one?

+1 :thumb:

Loose spark plug make a hell of a tapping/cracking noise as the compression leaks past the threads.

Hmmm, Engine out now though:brickwall

The sound seemed furthur in, not coming from down the side of the engine?.

Can i do compression test with engine out? I guess i can turn engine over by hand on crankshaft?
