First my car was written off by fire, and the Insurance Company has (so far) agreed to pay out pretty much the full value (less about £600) which was good. However, now I am getting what can only be described as stellar quotes for insurance - £2,000+

Can ANYONE help me find somewhere that is not going to balk at my zero no-claims and fire write-off (that was NOT my fault)?

Otherwise, it's a Nissan Micra for me...

Thanks,

Maz.

I don't think there is much you can do. If you had full no claims at say 70% discount or in other words you pay only 30% of what the full quote is, then when you lose this discount your premium is going to increase by nearly 3 and a half times just by the maths. Whether the policy is then loaded again because you have made a claim is another issue again.

I am so lucky that when I crashed it was on somebody elses policy!! ;)

Insurance seriously sucks when this happens. Its not like your holiday insurance goes up massively next time if you have to claim for a lost suitcase or something is it?

Wots wrong with a Nissan Micra?

On second thoughts don't answer that!

Seriously, with 0 No=claims, there is no way I could afford the premiums for a WRX etc. I wish you good luck m8.

Although you lose your no claims, it normally goes down a couple of steps, rather than reverting to zero.

e.g. 50% becomes 30%. Don't assume that it will be zero, check.

Also check out some insurance companies that give an introductory no-claims bonus for new customers.

Good luck.
