anyone here in the trade even possibly do one for a fellow scoobynetter ??!! thanks guys. |
HPI Check
PistonHeads do an very good HPI check with printout for £20.50.

I always use http://www.mycarcheck.com in fact I used the 2 days ago for the new Impreza. It's £9.99 for a full check with £10,000 of cover if their information is wrong.
The do a VIN check, tell you if it has been stolen, stolen & recovered, written off, scrapped, exported, destroyed, if colour has changed and if number plate has ever changed. Information is provided instantly online and they send you a certificate within a day of two. |

yes you enter the reg to get the report. they give you the option to add the vin number at a later date.
ask the person selling the car if they can tell you the vin so you can check it out. also ask for the last MOT number, if you enter that into the dvla website it shows you all the cars previous MOTs including advisories. |
Okay cheers some interesting finds already - original thread update !!!

wouldnt trust anything that is free at all
The only site I use and truse is the original HPI site |
Be careful of the mytextcheck type. Cheap and chearful they definitely are. They do the basics ie stolen, write off etc but they do not cover possibly the most important check. Does the car belong to a finance company? Many people buy cars on finance and flog them on for cash. The car never belonged to them to sell and still belongs to the finance company who are perfectly entitled to (and do) seize the vehicle. The ripped off purchaser can sue the person who sold it, but don't hold your breath.
For the extra tenner go for the pistonhead option. Seems to over it all in their blurb. Good luck :) |
autocheck buddy,
5 for £25.. bargain, i always use them. give full details too buddy |
Don't forget that finance companies cannot sue you or take the car if you buy a car and it turns out to have outstanding finance. Watchdog went through it before, you're protected by consumer credit act 1974 & 2006. They might try to send someone to take the car but they can only take it if you hand over the keys, if you say 'no' they have to go away and chase the seller for the remaining money as the agreement is with them.
