no Insurance you lose ya car

Ok so im sat in front room and look out and i see a cop car with a 58 plate Fiesta hes just pulled over, after 20 mins the owner walks away and the coppers stick a massive sticker on window NO INSURANCE U LOSE IT, 15 mins later truck pulls up and takes car away.

Now thats what i call progress, well done mr Plod.

unsure how much it will be to get that car back but some1 said 200 quid a day ? is that right ?

as far as i am aware its £105 to release it plus £15-30 (dependant on garage) per day storage charge

B0DSKI 27 April 2011 09:46 PM

Sounds fair enough to me

MattyB1983 27 April 2011 09:47 PM

Plus you have to insure it to get it back.

chopperman 27 April 2011 09:47 PM

Good !

Littleted 27 April 2011 09:49 PM

nice

B0DSKI 27 April 2011 09:52 PM

Although thinking about it. It'd be even better if you never got it back at all and it was scrapped in front of you :)

Markfey 27 April 2011 09:53 PM

Dont forget the £200 fine and the 6 points on his licence.

Terminator X 27 April 2011 09:58 PM

The chavs will just get round it with £200 sh*tters & run them with no tax, mot or insurance ... throwaway cars :(

Pretty much.

£100 fine and 6 points on a licence they haven't even got.

No deterrant at all IMO

Exactly and it's only going to get worse when insurance is 4k for a 1.0 micra.

£4k for a reason though.

Insurers gave young drivers a chance for many years..... but they f**ked up (driving like tits). Now they have to pay for it unfortunately.

They had their chance.... they blew it.

Yup, maybe so but you can see why the problem will only get worse.

Driving is a privilege, not a right.

If you can't afford it then don't do it.

I agree mate. Out of interest do disabled drivers pay a high premium due to the fact that a disability could impair their driving ?

andythejock01wrx 27 April 2011 10:41 PM

Just statistics really - if these suggest you are likely to have a high speed crash, injuring your passenegers/the olds on the oncoming vehicle, you'll pay a "premium" for your insurance!

Not that i know of. Aslong as the DVLA say they are safe to drive then it's fine as far as i know.

A bit tough on the young drivers who _are_ careful.

Are there stats on the percentage of young drivers that make a claim within 1,2,3 etc. years of passing their tests? I'd read somewhere that it was a relatively small percentage but the claims tended to be very expensive, but I've never actually seen any figures that back this up.

matth76 27 April 2011 11:30 PM

Yeah the un-insured deserve to lose it. However most of these "people" (who happen to be any age) who choose to un-insure their vehicle normally get an old banger for £100, dont insure it but travel around in it. If they caught they pay the penalty/fine plus lose their banger, which is still in total cheaper than insurance on an average car. Our courts need to be harsher and dish out bigger monetary fines. Very surprised in this case the un-insured car was a newish car. Serves them right as I know they will be wanting their car back. The amount of times I have seen road wars or traffic cops and the same people keep re-offending and the low fines which get dished out are just not a deterrant. And we (who insure our cars properly) end up paying more insurance because of this. It's a vicious circle until the courts / government hand out bigger penalties to stop these people.

leecalcars 27 April 2011 11:32 PM

Where do you stand if the vehicle is sorn as im only using mine soley as a track car surley it dosnt need insuring...!

I'd assume you only need special "track day" insurance to cover just your days you take car on track (assuming you transport car on a trailer to the track) to cover damage to yours or other cars but importantly to cover personal injury but I'm not sure on all this though.

Terminator X 28 April 2011 12:16 AM

^^ OK as long as it's not parked on the street!

TX.

Pramas 28 April 2011 01:06 AM

the "young drivers that drove like tits" and screwed it up are surely now about 30-35 and shouldnt effect the real young drivers now? iam not moaning, in in the above age group and pay my premium like every1 else on here, just think the real sensible young uns have a harsh deal right now
PS iam i right in thinking if hit by an uninsured driver the last insurance company to cover cars has to pay for it? my boss was hit by 1 last year and didnt get a bean

i think it was my generation that did that. i was i'm 22 now and i paid £1,600 for my 53 plate Clio in 2006 when it was worth £3,000

now new drivers are paying triple what i had to pay. which is hardly surprising considering the some of the idiots i knew from school some how wrote of 4 cars in one year.

Dazza9t9 28 April 2011 08:22 AM

It's gone up, initial payment of 150 then about 30 per day. That is on top of fine and points.

CREWJ 28 April 2011 08:29 AM

Can't the fine relate to the insurance required? I know insurance is a bit of a dark art but there must be a way of making these fines hurt.

Dazza9t9 28 April 2011 08:38 AM

That is down to the courts. They never issue maximum or not often anyway.

I believe they look at income ect never steep enough.

CREWJ 28 April 2011 08:41 AM

Let's be honest. The majority of the people without insurance have no real income so that system is flawed from the get go.
