How do people cut there bumper for front mount on a 1999 car?

Hello.
I know there is a guide in the tech achive, Its an earlier car so the bumper is alot differant.

Can people please show me how they've cut there bumper for a front mount on a 1999 car?

I want rid of the number plate mounting (black plastic bit) Then to fit a square side reg plate.

Looking at the bumper it looks as if i cut it away i'll have a gaping hole left?

Can any 1 help me?

Thanks

Getting my new facelift bumper done on 9th May, can you wait that long?
Or try Googling a few images?

you just cut the middle bar that goes across , not the number plate holder , if you cut that you will have a big hole ( i think)

You just cut it straight across, yes you have a whole but it's only on the underside of the top lip, you can't see it whilst standing or even kneeling in front of the car

The only person that is going to see the whole is someone you have run over and then backed up off them!!!!!

Look like i'll have to use the fibre glass sheeting and resin, i dont really want the hole there & i dont want the number plate fixing point there either.

Thanks foor the reply guys but there must be some 1 out there with there's done?

Alcazar i might still be looking by then so if you can still send us some pics over. I'd be grateful :)

I cut out the original number plate mount, mounted it back flush fusing the plastic with a soldering iron and then fibre glass filler, normal filler and some wet and dry to smooth it off:thumb:

Will do mate.

Once mine is cut, Darren is leaving it mounted, the old one is coming home for sale.:) Ready cut for FMIC and with MrO Styling splitter fitted.

Then I'll be removing the new one for getting it sprayed. At that point I may fill the hole if there is one. We shall see.

Anyway, I'll send you before and after pics if I do that.
