Dead bird on intercooler - PICS

I was having a nice little blast home from Ayr beach with my girlfriend.

Two pigeons were sitting in the middle of the road playing chicken with me and these were the results:

You can guess where one of the pigeons ended up:

:Whatever_

Looks like I need a new hood scoop. Does anyone know how much they are for a hawkeye?

Billet 20 April 2011 10:22 PM

i wouldn't replace the whole scoop for the sake of one fin.

14N-FR 20 April 2011 10:24 PM

It really looks bad when you see the scoop in the light. Its one of these things that would annoy me if I didnt change it.

bugeyejohn 20 April 2011 10:26 PM

 Did you take the insurance details from the other pigeon. Scoops aren't very cheep. :D

It was a hit and run.......... literally and his mate flew off :lol1:

Good job it wasn't a kamikaze pigeon or else I would have been a lot worse off earlier in the day!

All joking aside its a bit of a gutter, scoops sell for about £80 painted is the bonnet ok??

Rez 20 April 2011 11:03 PM

Just out of interest, that's a dove, not a pidgeon... lol

EH52WRX 20 April 2011 11:06 PM

Haha, more power to come after I plumb in my FMIC, fit my GT headers & Harvey up pipe and have my AVCR mapped by Andy F on Tuesday!

I was driving at a rather spirited pace right enough!

TomBoyNI 21 April 2011 01:49 AM

I'm sure its last thoughts were not pleasant!

Pink_Floyd 21 April 2011 08:44 AM

It could have been worse. Lucky it wasn't a Burberry donned Chav knowing what Ayr beach is like :D

gutted for you mate

14N-FR 22 April 2011 02:17 AM

I could still smell some of it burning on my intake manifold :(

Good job the engine bay is under going a make over and a spring clean.

barneyblue 22 April 2011 03:17 AM

Lucky it was the scoop and not the windscreen,
pigeon strike is not pretty at er... spirited miles per hour
Have often wondered how many people get various objects in their scoops as
they are rather large lol

I thought your model was a hawk eye, not a dove eye

dickyboy 22 April 2011 10:05 AM

Jesus christ cant believe that has gone straight through the scoop like that ;(

Budgie 22 April 2011 10:36 AM

yep, could have been worse

14N-FR 22 April 2011 11:06 AM

I have seen that vid before and it was the first thing I thought of right after I hit the bird!

I bet my windscreen excess is cheaper than buying a new scoop and having it painted though :lol1:

Mrfastbaz 22 April 2011 11:24 AM

i always thought that the scoobs had a good suction when on boost lol

harvey 22 April 2011 05:07 PM

It could have been a lot worse. Having smashed a laminated screen on a hen pheasant and being concerned about having bent the screen pillar I now treat all birds with a degree of caution.

Roast pigeon breast is a bit of a delicacy but you need so many of them to make a meal:)

lisa_z 23 April 2011 12:24 AM

I could imagine it was quite easily done. I have had ny car 24 hours and have almost had a bird and an bmw m3 in my scoop.

wrx287 23 April 2011 11:40 AM

Didnt know Hawks ate pidgeons:D
Try Jap Performance Parts for a scoop:thumb:

As one pidgeon said to the other:

I thought you said 'Watch out for that coop'.
