SUBARU Impreza 2.0 GX Sport 4WD Tuning

Hi my brother has a blob eye 2004 SUBARU Impreza 2.0 GX Sport 4WD for sale. He says he will sell it to me cheap, but before I get it I want to know about tuning. Can any one help... How much BHP can you get out of it...? Can you turbo it to make it like a wrx...? Or can you do a engine swap? I know a lot of people will post back saying it will be cheaper to just buy a wrx but I can get this sport cheap! :norty: Any info about tuning, how much hp it can get, prices, ect would be great thanks!!! :Whatever_

Doesn't really matter if you get it for free - it would probably still work out cheaper to buy a WRX.
Engine - Gearbox - Loom - Hubs - Brakes....... the list goes on to build a turbo, and then the insurance will be more than a turbo after you declare that little lot :thumb:

Just enjoy the sport mate, great wee cars I was in one (a bug) for over 5 years and they are great, don't know about bhp probably around 130, but easier to insure and so on, a converted motor would spanking you silly with the insurance

agree forget the swop and enjoy it or go for the premade wrx/sti with the ugraded everything and save cash

I think the gx is 157 bhp I think the classic was 123 bhp

There good cars too start out with just have fun in it don't good mad
Modding has for turboing far too much cost

Pretty much reiterating what has already been said. With the usual mods you would be lucky to get 170bhp.

Not worth tuning in any way, shape or form. I bought a classic Sport for the Mrs and had a quick look at tuning but decided against it. The cost to wring a few extra bhp out of it just simply wasn't worth it. I just stuck some gold 17" ST2's on it and changed the manifold to an un-equal length one with a turbo back box welded on to the standard pipework.

I would say you are looking at the best part of £4k to convert it properly....still sound cheap?

If it was that easy, don't you think you'd find a conversion kit on t'internet? :thumb:
