I've got a 6 speed gearbox for my sti version 2 but I don't think it'll improve my acceleration like that :lol1: I'm just looking for a stronger box and a longer top gear :D What power are you running?

bigsinky 18 April 2011 11:47 PM

6 speed will allow you to launch harder, but 0.5 seconds my friend is not down to the gearbox trust me. You put together a good smooth run, a good launch, smooth gear changes. It all adds up.

Can I ask what sort of power do you want to run if you feel a 6 speed is not strong enough?

Paul's running a 5spd atm, the 6 speed is the stronger box :)

Im far slower with a 6speed than i was with my PPG 5 speed

My 6 speed seems to be running close to the same times, the best after 2 crail qtr mile days was 12.5 + 12.6 and my best with the old 5 speed was 12.1, a bit more practise will hopefully get closer to the old times coz now with the 6 speed i use 1st - 5th to cross the line and seems to have a shorter shift compared to the old 5 speed and in that box i only 1st - 4th to cross the line

I have also Done both runs on my 5 speed and now my 6 speed it adds about 4ths but I'm sure I can launch harder and get better changes to get bk to the 5 speed times

No you've got me wrong, I'm looking to run 450bhp for the time being which is why I've got a 6 speed and don't trust my 5 speed ;) I love my 5 speed but it won't handle the power I'm looking at :(

bigsinky 20 April 2011 08:09 AM

ahh right. no probs. 6 speed will take a lot more power than 450. thats when other stuff starts to break. now i can't drive for toffee, but my 6 speed has seen my car do 11.2 @ 135mph.
