Turbo cuts out sometimes when pulling in 5th gear

Ok now this is something that has only happened twice in past month n half of owning my scooby. Basically seems when in 5th gear putting my foot down pretty much to overtake for example, it just knocks me back seems like turbo cuts out then starts spooling up again. It's not all the time though as only happened once. Any ideas?

Sounds like its over boosting. What mods have you got and has it been mapped?

Well it's got things like induction kit, fujitsubo exhaust system,.. Apparently uprated walbro fuel pump. And apparently also according to previous owner which I haven't checked is that it's got a mines ecu..

Not sure what MY car you have but the early newage has a noise reduction facility to enable it to pass EU regulations .......... the ECU cuts boost after a period of "gentle driving and booting" it to pass some noise test.

A bit of a pain as the ECU thinks you are taking an EU noise test but in fact you are waiting to overtake a Micra driver :(

What car have you got ?

Shaun

PS The Mines ECU is usualy callibrated for Jap Fuel so the ECU might be having a hissy fit LOL

I have a 96 wrx sti mate, someone told me to clean boost solenoid might do trick but then again it rarely happens. Only happened twice in past 2 weeks, as I don't drive much on motorway. Never happens locally when putting foot down

Yep.

Definately sounds like overboosting. Do you have a boost gauge fitted.
I had one a few years back and it only happened now and again high end of 5th gear.
Buy a manual boost controller (Dawes device) for around £15, and set it to the correct setting. That will keep your boost steady and stop overboosting.

Cheers Danny.
