WRX air con condenser

The air con on my 2005 WRX seems to have stopped working.

It was refilled and worked ok but after a few weeks seemed to go back to just blowing cool'ish air?

When it was refilled it aparantly had no leaks but the guy at the time did not seem the most skilled person I've come across.

I have since noticed the condenser has quite a big dent where it looks like it has been hit by a large stone?

I'll get it refilled again by another company to see if they can check for a leak but if it needs a new condenser any idea where I can get one for a 2005 WRX as I can only find up to 2004??

Any help welcome.

get it re gassed by a proper place (not none of these DIY kits) and tell them you suspect a leak. They will fill it with a UV reactant dye, if it stops working again....they will be able to spot the leak. Leaks arent always the condenser, the pipes have o rings on them which can fail.

Actually just realised if you tell them you have a suspected leak, under new regulations they will only refill it with the minimum amount they can, and wont be able to fully gas it until the leak has been rectified/ruled out. Have taken my license yet so didnt think if that immediately.

Any auto factors should be able to get you one, mine was about £100 iirc

find an air con place that has the use of nitrogen, it is a commonly used leak detector in a/c. i do a lot of a/c at work. it is actually breaking the law to add ANY refridgerant to a system that you know has a leak. any decent air con place should have added dye when they regassed yours, any idea if they did? where abouts are you ?

Im pretty sure the regulations state your allowed to add a small specified amount along with the uv dye to be able to ascertain where the leak is. Dye isnt always added at some places on a re-gas.

check the regs mate im 99.9 % that it does not say anywhere you can add refidgerant and dye for leak detection! the use of pressure or vacuum are the specified ways. the whole idea of F gas regs is to stop people doing that!! not only is it breaking the law its bloody dangerous!!

Thanks guys.

I'll get it checked for leaks.

Has anyone bought a new condenser for a 2005 WRX, is itndifferent from a 2004?

If it's the condenser leaking, you might be able to see there's a wet patch, got mine from europarts, fitted nicely. ( MY99 classic)
