ok, kinda getting bored of the scooby, not a very nice car to drive except for when going fast, and i find myself taking the work car on most trips. :(

so considered trading it in (worth about £7500 im guessing) and a bit of cash towards on of these...

ticks all the boxes, looks the part i think, comes with the gadgets, and doesnt carry the price tag of an evo or other car. anyone out there tried one? il be taking one for a proper test drive, just wondering what the general feeling is towards these.

can someone move this for me? didnt think, just wanted general opionions on these, quite new to the market, and havent seen any reviews on the likes of topgear, i feel this could be a hidden gem if it performs like it says on paper, test drive this week, so who knows.

They reviewed it on fifth gear and put it against an S4 iirc.
Nice car on paper, but I’m not a fan of Vauxhalls. I do think you’d regret it.

i had a SRI NAV CDTI with VXR kit 20 inch wheels all the gadgets inside, and i liked it, till i blew injectors with a remap, the VXR had just come out a month or 2 later.

They do look nice as long as u get the nice wheels and leather, but are very thirsty, even more so than a standard scoob.

The engine as far as i know id the SAAB one, they aint as quick either ads a scoob

1 thing to look at m8, the 2.0 Turbo 4x4 version can be mapped upto the VXR, and is as fast, alot of the guys on the forums did that instead and save a few grand, plus MPG was a lot better

The Insignia wouldnt fit on my Garage it was too long.

As moo said above the VXR Insigi was made to beat the s4 but the new s4 is better, Personally m8 if i was gonna get something for long Journeys look as a 2nd hand S4.

I bought my 2011 saloon scooby as i liked the inside it was nice to drive for long journeys i do leeds London a lot, cruise control 30mpg in I mode what more can 1 ask for. and now its the 320R with sat NaV woooooo

also the coth seats in the insignia are poo so avoid em

Car is lovely Rez and the dash is nice to but when I tried to fit in it my leg kept bashing on the center console. Nice in blue, white and black. Make sure u get the twin exhaust 2.8 turbo very quick sounds lush to

The only Vauxhall I'd get is a Monaro.

You only have to look at the cheap Halfords wheels on the VXR to be put off.

I had a vectra one, one of the last (an '09) got 33mpg and that was driving spirited everywhere. Normal fuel, no remap. Was a nice car. Not exciting as a scoob tho I have to say. Insurance was same as scoob tho so no improvements there...

The fifth gear review went along the lines of it is a decent car to drive but is essentially too heavy. Probably why it is thirsty. Looks good though.

Resale value won't be good. Vauxhalls hold their money like Subarus lol

My mate has got a astra vxr. I'd never have one. Nothing put problems. 3rd manifold. 2nd ecu. Still gets engine management everytime sport is engauged. Car spends more time an vauxhall than on his drive.

Mine was ok apart from a Hose blowing off under the engine sounded like a dump valve very common VX stuck it back with superglue lol

a lot of car for the money, considering main dealers can,t shift them so offering BIG discounts. the main dealer at loughborough was knocking 11,000 off list price . that was about 8 months back

There is always people that will slate any make of car whether it be a Vauxhall or BMW. These people have clearly never owned one.

Vauxhalls are great cars, I have personally had 3 of them from the Corsa-C 1.8SRi, Astra 1.9CDTi and then the Astra VXR.

The modern range of cars are out standing. Get in one and drive them. Yes they are nothing like a Scooby, but they were not made to compete with them.

I love the Insignia, its a great car, looks superb and has quite a few goodies in with it. Get it mapped at Thorney and enjoy it even more.

As far as Vauxhall reliabilit goes, our Zafira is now 5 years and 78k old. In that time its cost 6 tyres, 5 services a bulb and 2 fuses.
The bolts on the back box heat shield have rusted, the cover is now held in place with Instead of Nails. That's it as far as reliability goes.
You need to drive one to see if its for you though

well i need a new car, has to be brand new, or at least 11 plate hence looking at this.

i cant look at older cars, especially if they are things like audis, as the cost price might be the same, but then comes higher maintaince bills, and more stuff to spend out on, less warrenty etc.

as for the insignia, i had one for a company car for a month, i thought it was nice, looked the part, but then i traded in for a mondeo and never looked back. but that was comparing middle of the range diesels, and i must admit not much will top the new ford mondeo (although a bit pricey) but now my circumstances have changed, i can choose something a bit more sporty, needs to be a biggish car, as im a big guy. will take a look at the owners club shortly, but value for money really kicks in for me on this car compared to other more boring company motors.

Just had a look on the trader and used ones are around the £21k mark.

James May reviewed it on Top Gear, with the lady who designed most of the road signs in Briatain way back in the 60's. Gave it a reasonable review if I remember rightly!

I work in a Vauxhall dealer & had an Insignia VXR as my company car from June 2010 until Dec 2010. White NAV model with 20" wheels with Milltek Turbo back system

In my opinion the Insignia vxr is a very comfortable cruising car. The car doesnt feel that quick due to the size & weight of the vehicle. Car handles very well with the 4x4 system especially in VXR mode. 6 speed gearbox is very good but ratios are very long. Fuel wise i was getting 22mpg.

The only problem i had was punctures due to potholes
The tyres are £350 a corner :-(

Overall i think the insignia vxr is crying out for a remap which increases the performance midrange by about 80bhp!

I enjoyed my 6 months driving the Insignia especially on long journeys. Done some testing on my local private track. Insignia just cant touch my scooby on the twistys or from a standing start but when rolling from 60 the insignia comes into its own.

forgot to mention the rrp of the insignia when it was new was £35000 we sold the car for £26000 with 2000 miles on the clock.

If i was to buy a vauxhall the one i would go for would be the VXR8 model as you can pick them up for about the same price as the Insignia VXR
