Rowing machine.
Anyone use one at home? I`m thinking about getting one to add to my home equipment but don`t know what to look for  i.e. Hydraulic Resistance, Air Resistance, Magnetic Resistance, Water Resistance. My budget is around £250, can I expect something half decent for that sort of dosh :D Cheers.
*edit* Hydraulic is out.....cos they`re pants and water is out cos they`re 4 figures! |
I was seriously thinking of getting one for home , until i clicked on the price of a concept 2
..even 2nd hand :o |
Great bit of gym kit,i have the infiniti r100 rower.cost me around £500.00,but that was when they first came out.Magnetic rowers are the quietest almost noiseless, bear in mind that as you increase your rowing resistance the more noise the rower will make.Air powered rowers make more noise as you increase rowing rate, but mine is ok,and i usually have music on anyway. For around £200.00 you might pick a bargain in a sale try someplace like fitness superstore that do sales, they are currently doing some sales on magnetic and air powered rowers..The concept rower is really only for serious rowers etc,you don't need to go that high in price other than to boast you have a concept 2..

the only one to get (and the one I have) is the Concept C2
everything else is a toy |
£200.00 is not going to buy a concept unless you're very lucky, and unless you are an Olympic rower/are a member of a rowing club,or you share your house with a team of olympic rowers,no need to spend that much on buying a concept 2 other than to boast you have one.
Kettler range of rowing machines are very good, like a kettler cambridge would probably suit your needs for doing a bit of home fitness.. or an Oxford 2 if you can stretch the budget.. |
Yup, Concept 2 is the real deal. £700 last time I looked a few years back. How much are they 2nd hand?
|
Concept 2 is definitely the best (I have one), but pricey even second hand. My brother is looking for one at the moment and on ebay they are going for £600+.

i am training for the marathon at the moment -- and in terms of cardio work nothing beats my road bike on some free standing rollers
45 mins on that and i am absolutely wiped out - i would rather go for a 10mile run |

I bought one, think it was a magnetic one, and very quickly (first use) realised I'd F**ked up. It was absolutely shockingly bad.
It sat there for a few months un-used till I sold it. Looked at prices for a concept 2, then bought a Treadmill instead, which now sits unused :lol1: |
I have a winder core 2 never opened they sell for 120 euro 80 euro posted
