Decat down pipe on a my2000 classic

Hi all

Just a quick question i currently have a H/S centre decat and H/S back box on my 2000 x reg wagon .

If buy a decat down pipe will i need a remap asap ?.

I keep reading and hearing differnt info on the subject.

No, ran mine without and no problems. Worth having a boost gauge and knock detector thingy (KnockLink?) just to keep an eye on things. Also had mine heat wrapped to keep engine bay temps low / exhaust temps high (even better flow).

Remap would ultimately release more power and torque from the mods so worth considering for future.

Best mod ever though, had the same - centre and back box, adding the downpipe was the icing on the cake. The exhaust note is superb and you get some pops and bangs when things get nice and hot :D

As per coffin, ran a full decat on an MY98 uk saloon for three years without any probs or remap! :D:D:D Sounds considerably meatier with the decat downpipe on.
Took a while to suss out what throttle position produced a pop and which produced a bang! Great fun...

Brilliant :)

I would do the remap this year just wanted to see if i could get away with it for a few months in the mean time .

I will track down a boost gauge and knock link while im at it .

Thanks again

Dan
