My Lexus

Went to Anglesey on Sunday for a fun track day with the scoob but all went horribly wrong as I loaded the car onto the trailer and set off - 2 miles and the Lexus transmission went bang - very, very loud and stopped!

No transmission whatsoever - all lights ablaze with check hybrid, check traction, check this and that.

Looks like the inverter at £3k - ouch!

Anybody got an RX400 H that has had similar/same problem?

Hoping Lexus say I can claim warranty on this 2007 vehicle

Lexus forum - they aint a patch on the scooby forums....

Anyway, it was the inverter and cost a healthy £3600 but its back on the road now - lovely car but very expensive to run especially mpg - 14mpg towing the scooby!

Also got a Lexus IS220d which is very nice so hope I dont have issues with that now.

And they say Subaru's are expensive to run - not in my oipinion their not....

Thats bad luck, sorry to hear about the vast expense.

Well it must be a comfortable ride at least!

surely the mpg is better than that as its a hybrid? we have got the rx300 and that averages about 22, was going to get the hybrid as we wanted more mpg so what do you get without towing?

My mum and dad get an average of 32 mpg in there gs 450 h , they were gonna get the new 4x4 hybrid but my mum said it was to slow , she is 61 !

I wouldnt bother getting an RX400h if you want good economy, thats for sure.

The most I have had from it is 38mpg and that was driving at 56 mph - so damn boring and tiring - that's me of course.

Last night I went to Leeds from Barton on M62 all the way sat at 90 and it returned 24.6mpg

It goes like stink with a 0-60 of 7.2 secs - ok not a scooby rocket I know but surprises so many motorists - yes I am a boy racer at heart - cant help myself :cuckoo:

When I had my caravan it returned 12mpg :thumb:

Average around town is 22-24mpg

However, its spacious, very comfortable and quick

I am hoping to get the RX450h next and that is by far more economical but a little bit slower and not as sturdy on the bends as the 400h - again in my opinion - all subjective I realise that.

I also have an IS220d which is very comfortable and does pick up its heels when pushed. However, the gearbox is poor, mpg also poor unless you on a run and then I can achieve 42mpg :thumb:

I had a 200d for the RX whilst in the garage and that is a lot nicer than its predecessor the 220d - 2litre instead of 2.2 and the gearbox is lovely.

I love the GS450h but I need the 4x4 size for our 11 dogs, grand kids and the crap winter weather :lol1:
