My date at Buckingham Palace.

As some of you know I got an MBE in the New Years Honours List. Last week I had the priviledge of getting my award presented.

Neither, Princess Royal, Anne. Had a really good chat as her ex-was an officer in my old lot before I jumped ship.

I received the MBE for support to the families of soldiers killed or wounded in Afghanistan and the Gulf as a Visiting Officer, nearly in double figures now.

Pass my regards to Martin, I looked after one of the Welsh Guards, we have history, he's a top bloke.

My brother in law served with him as well

Hats off to you fella, easy to sit back and do naff all.

Very well done Ian, you do a job that I would imagine none of us envy.

As others have already said this is a very well deserved honour for you for all the hard work and support you have put in (and I would imagine in the background so to speak) dealing with families at a very difficult time, we are all proud of you. :notworthy

The Trooper 1815 04 April 2011 10:46 PM

Ta everyone.

But there are loads of other who have done what I have done, 364 for Afghanistan alone at the last count and that's just operational stuff.

They also deserve something.

ScoobyStu82 05 April 2011 12:41 AM

HERO. Iv done 5 operational tours and lost some good friends over the years. Some right infront of my own eyes.

People (especially civvies) don't understand how hard it is to walk up someone's drive and give them the bad news that a loved one has died or been badly injured on Ops. Heroes like you make a massive difference.

Hats off to you mate......UBIQUE!

KJD Mk1 05 April 2011 07:33 AM
