Would you report someone for dangerous driving?
 

Thismorning an idiot came close to killing me and my missus due to speeding forcing me to talk evasive action, once I got back behind him I flashed him and he put on his hazzards and slammed on the brakes followed by booting it up the road cutting up traffic to get away from me.

I have to admit I gave chase as I wanted to drag him out of the car and kill him. As you may remember, I got drove into the back of 2months ago and this fella doing this has really stressed me out and I did feel proper fear when he was literally centimetres from travelling at my guess close to 90/100mph.

So would you grass him up to the cops? Or leave it as another pleb on the road -'ll never meet again.

report him fingers crossed he gets caught before he kills someone

report him.

Report him if you can remember the plate , but basically avoid this sort if at all possible and certainly dont react to his actions

One man's dangerous is another's "spirited" ?

"Cutting-in" is naughty, but a "head-on" is far worse, IMHO.

There are a lot of bad aggressive drivers nowaday's.
Driving for me is starting to become a chore not an enjoyment.

I totally agree! The drive to work almost everyone morning has me stressed out by the sheer awfulness of other peoples driving.

If u do something stupid when I'm in the car alone, I'll quickly forgive you but when a loved one is in the car with me it really makes me see red!

We called the police once after following someone either having a fit or drunk as a lord.

Missed a roundabout and hit the island and weaving quite badly. We slowed right down to give the guy some space. Called the police and gave the reg number but don't know if they looked into it. Had the feeling the weren't really interested.

Forget and live another day, Mate. Not worth stressing about.

Keep a note of his number, in case he does the same thing again.

Once you can forget about, but if you see the same guy doing the same thing time and time again, shop the b@stard.

Going to the police would be pointless - what are they gonna do without any evidence?

I'm pretty sure that by law any report of dangerous driving has to be followed up by the police.

Thats the way I got some scumbag to admit being at an accident, as he was trying it on telling the solicitors he was away during the time he drove into the front of my car.

I wouldn't bother reporting it unless there were other drivers who had witnessed the same and also were going to report it. One person reporting is a waste of time, your word against theirs. More than one person reporting means the Police will more than likely look into it but probably nothing more than "just a word in his ear".

sorry 2 here that mate i had something like this only a few weeks ago. i did report it and the lil **** posted it on facebook thinking it was funny 2 his mates so showed the filth that 2 but they just said that it wasnt enough evedence so wouldnt stick and told me 2 report it if it happens again.i dont condone my ''actions'' but i lost it when he done it again and said 2 ''chill out im a good driver''. he is now sporting a smile minus 8 teeth and roots so they cant put them back. police turned up and my attitude was not enough evedence so come back and see me if it happens again.but again i dont condone this and the pigs wont help + it didnt make me feel any better after he walked in to my fist a few times so its a lose lose im affraid.

I would report him.

I reported a guy down the road for speeding and he had a visist from the police but it diodnt stop him so I reported him again as he was speeding in his works van. Not only did the police visit him again but he lost his job as well.

I reported what looked like a drunk driver a while back. The guy parked badly in a car park outside a Tesco express which caught my attention, big space with plenty of room and it took 4 or so attempts to pull nose in. He got out of the car and swayed/staggered into Tesco. When he came out he then tried to get into the wrong car next to his, this car was a different colour and type (4x4 he had an Escort) It was at this point i called the cops as he was staggering around looking hammered unable to sort his keys, etc. He had a small bag which he then pulled out a bottle of something, looked like Brandy by the shape of the bottle and the colour of the liquid and took a large swig. It was a bit like a comedy sketch of someone drunk but for real. I might well have tackled him and maybe taken the keys off of him but i had my two small children in the car with me and did not want to put them in danger.
I called the cops back to update direction and what i saw as he was leaving.

This felt like the right thing to do given the circumstances

Are you proud of that? What if that man had a family to support, defaulted on his mortgage as a result of losing his job etc etc.....do you think thats fair punishment for speeding?

So of someone was shot in the street you would blame the person who called 999 and not the gunman???

Perhaps the bloke in question should have thought about his family and commitments before choosing to speed/drive dangerously endangering himself and others!:)

My 2 daughters nad other children may have been playing outside when this tosser was tearing down our road at 50 mph in a Merc Sprinter.

He had been warned before by the police and some neighbours about his speeding but took no notice.

He was 19 at the time and lived with Mummy so no kids or mortgage , not that that would have made a difference to me anyway as the safety of my family is paramount.

Are you saying that its OK to speed down a narrow road in a Merc Sprinter at 50mph with children playing in the area then? Or is it just OK if you have a mortgage and family to support.

Similar thing happened to me recently when I had my son in the car. Impatient **** in a civic overtook me on a country lane and cut me up almost sending me into a wall. I got his plate, went straight down the police station and was shrugged at by the copper there saying "Not alot we can do".

No im not saying its right or ok, just the way you wrote your story seemed boastful. There's no pride in being a grass IMO, each to their own though...

If you saw someone breaking into a house or carrying a concealed weapon or even shoplifting/stealing, etc would you report them or not because as it could effect their family and finances.

speeding/driving dangerously could and does kill and injure those who do it and also innocent bystanders who can also have their lives ruined by the actions and choices of those who choose do it.

You value system leaves something to be desired imho:) a proactive approach is much better than the alternative and you need to understand that there is a difference between being a 'grass' and being a good person.

So if in my situation with young children what would you have done?

And no I was not being boastful at all.
