2004 sti ecutek remap,fuel pump,decat downpipe,backbox,panel filter,dumpvalve....bhp is 318 and torque peaks at 320 at 4000rpm then dips to around 310 then peaks back to 320 at 4500 and then drops to 300 at 4600 then is stays there till 5600 then drops to 280 at around 5800 to 6000 then falls rapidly as the revs get higher from there....was gonna post sum pics but just noticed u cant post...bhp looks fine but theres a few dips there to....just woundered if torque should peak and stay there till at least around 6000 where as mine peaks at 4000 rpm but then at 6000 its as low as270...just feels a little flat at high rpm well from 5000 onwards..how else can i get these pics up..

If it made 320ftlb at 6000rpm, it would be making 366hp!

Power and torque are linked, if you want more torque at high rpm, you're asking for more power, and the standard turbo doesn't often like to give it!

My 2002 STI made 340 bhp a good few years ago... using a TSL sports-cat'd exhaust.

but should it fall so rapidly from 320 at 4000 rpm then drops to around 300 at 5500 the just completly drops to around 260 at 6000 and then falls from there to 230 at 7000...

Power = Torque (in ftlb) x Engine Speed (in RPM)

So

320ftlb x 4000rpm / 5252 = 243hp
300ftlb x 5500rpm / 5252 = 314hp
260ftlb x 6000rpm / 5252 = 297hp
230ftlb x 7000rpm / 5252 = 306hp

So the peak power is a early, and the power drops off a little at high RPM, but it's nothing unreasonable, you have within 12hp of the peak power at 7000rpm.

at 4000 rpm bhp is at 260 with torque being at 320...and at 5400 bhp is at 318.4 and torque is at 300 so if its linked why is there more torque when power is lower and when power is higher there is less torqur..??

understandably maths may not be your strong point, but put simply power= torque x rpm
if it made more torque higher up the revs it would make more power, and it simply cant, due to the std turbo, the turbo is the single biggest restriction high up the rpm range, but on the other hand it works well low down

I don't think you get me.

Power is a function of torque and RPM, you CANNOT alter the torque without altering the power at a given RPM. If the power is a flat line the torque MUST drop as the RPM increases.

Power = torque x RPM / 5252

That is a fact, it's not open for debate. it means that for one thing the power and the torque will be exactly the same at 5252rpm, torque will ALWAYS be higher than power below 5252rpm and power will ALWAYS be higher than torque at 5252rpm.

The shape of your power curve is okay, and I might expect to hold a tiny bit more of the peak power (318) at say 7000rpm, but really it's fine.

sorry not that clued up at this type of ****.. im just lookin at my graphs and theres just a few dips here and there and just woundered if it was running 100% i just wondered if torque should fall so fast the curve aint that great really not that smooth...thanx 4 the info..:thumb:
