spec c is 2.25 turns lock to lock...I have one installed on my classic.

Not sure what the standard UK is, but I'd hazard a guess at 2.5 :)

I'd be interested in knowing how hard it is to do also! I've changed a steering rack on a power assisted steering car before, but I imagine the scoob would be much harder!

pretty easy tbh...although it is a lot easier with the engine out :D

pics on my project thread, sorry not sure which page number as I can't see Photobucket at work...but it will be towards the beginning :)

not wanting to take the engine out :nono:

that gives me too many ideas :)

how much do these cost are there any breakers that deal with spec c's ?

is there away of doing this without removal of engine

cheers

Nice pic :thumb:

Off the top of my head and in kinda logical order;
1.disconnect the two power steering lines...be careful PS fluid isn't very nice stuff-you can see where the two hoses are connected at the base of the rack above
2.disconnect the track rod ends from the old steering rack
3.loosen the UJ- you can also see it in the pics above
4.remove the skid plate from the bottom of the subframe
5.remove the four bolts that attach the rack to the subframe and you should be able to remove it...fit in reverse order.

I fitted mine while ago so I may missed something but if I have it should be pretty obvious...Gary is right price wise iirc too :)
