What Do I Do Now?

About 10 days ago I took out an Impreza STi for a Test Drive, alone.

I was enjoying myself so much that I kept it for 2 hours - I even put some fuel in the tank so that I could give it a good trial.

Anyway, I ended up taking it down to the South Coast on a very fast run ... well, these things cry out for a bit of stretching - don't they? My route took in the M3 and M27 into the New Forest.

Thing is, and this is embarrassing, the garage has received a summons for Court on the car - on that day - for speeding. Apparently, and I find this staggering, the speed was clocked at 152 MPH  on the M27 by a mobile Police Camera on a bridge.

The garage say that the time and date match with the time I had the car - they have told me that they will have to name me (they have a photocopy of my Licence) ... I'm struggling to think of a way out of this mess I find myself.

I think I may get a short ban even - which isn't going to look good to my SAGA Insurance!! :(

I'm so mad at myself ... normally I'm so calm and collected .... the damned car just went to my head :(

Any way out for me?

BrownPantsRacing 01 April 2011 08:57 AM

Sorry mate, you wont get a short ban with that speed. You best see a lawyer. You could be facing much worse, possibly even a short spell at her mag pleaseure. Definately seek legal advice before admitting to anything asap. Not good.

Good one Pete :lol1: and yes it is april fools day ;) (anyone who knows Pete will know he doesnt go over 60mph :lol1: )

Tony:)

My mate got jail time for 142 on the M11. Not looking good mate.

Your only defence i guess would be denying you was in the car at the time of the offence... If they dont have actual proof you was driving the car, i dont think the case would last long in court.

I had a similer thing happen to my when i hired a vehicle, and in court they didnt have enough evidence to take it any further.

And the date today is????

Scrappy9 01 April 2011 09:04 AM

What a day to find out its amazing the number of these things that happen just before the 1st April.

But good luck with the outcome sounds like prison to me, probably sharing with an 18 stone Hells Angel called Daisy!!

Paul Hutch 01 April 2011 09:04 AM

lol

pslewis 01 April 2011 09:04 AM

Jail??

NO! For speeding?

I've never done anything like this before ... I thought maybe a £75 fine and a week ban?? :(

musso2010 01 April 2011 09:09 AM

pslewis you have way too much time on your hands :lol1:

New_scooby_04 01 April 2011 09:30 AM

LOL nice one Pete, you had me going there for a minute! :D

Gary WRX 01 April 2011 09:32 AM

I think these days you are given 2 options:

1- a ban/jail sentence
2- you get to keep your licence and stay out of jail but you are forced to take a Honda diesel (The justification being the Honda diesel can not perform above UK speed limits)

I'd take the ban mate ;-)

P1Drifter 01 April 2011 09:33 AM

think you read it wrong pete, it probably says 15.2mph there doing you for going too slow

Dan W 01 April 2011 09:38 AM

April's fool and all that. :lol1:

If it were true you could write back saying that you were not going 152,
red-lining an STI in top gear is at least 155-158.

152??? what did they think you were test driving?:lol1:

Terminator X 01 April 2011 09:41 AM

Well done Pissy, you hooked a couple of young 'uns :lol1:

stanmo 01 April 2011 10:31 AM

Does this mean they've fixed the map on the newage cars ? :-)

Cannon Fodder 01 April 2011 11:07 AM

If I hadn't of known the date then I might have just fallen for it. ;)

The thought of Pete driving at 152mpg beggars belief, as TX has said I doubt he even goes past 1520rpm. :lol1:

The believer in me hoped that you might have rejoined the fold, but never mind PSL is true to form. :thumb:

It must have been, after all the 'car for all occasions' the Honda Civic delivers 1000lbs ft of torque (and please note how I use lbs ft and not the cop out measurement of nm for those with inadequacy issues :lol1:), super car beating performance (in the real world of course ;)), road tax is only £5 per year and best of all it delivers fuel economy good enough to worry OPEC into covertly getting the model discontinued. :thumb:

Jamo 01 April 2011 12:23 PM

bah too obvious :)

pslewis 01 April 2011 01:16 PM

Well, I don't think it's funny!!!
