I may be receiving a phone call shortly telling me the dreaded news about my beloved scoob.:(
It's a MY95 WRX, was in pristine condition with 50k on the clock.
Any pointers as to how we agree a price?
What UK model do they compare it with, or does it have it's own price bands?
There are plenty of differences between Jap. spec & UK, but does this make any difference in their eyes?
I need bargaining power ;)

Any help at all would be great, coz I need as much cash as I can to get my next scoob :D

If it is a write off, the folowing will happen in my experience....

*They make you an offer.
*You are disappointed and refuse.
*They ask you what you think it is worth and you tell them.
*If they agree straight away you probably didn't ask for enough.
*If they disagree, they will invite you to show them examples of cars like your own in Autotrader/TopMarques/local papers that are advertised at what you claim.
*If you can find a few examples to back you up they should promptly give you pretty close to what you are asking. The adverts need to be very similar to your own car though in terms of age, mileage, spec. There is no point just sending the few most overpriced examples you can find as they will check out others too and get an average.

yeah the examples need to be very close - and ideally trade ads as they are generally more expensive.

It can be a hard battle - when I had a car written off there didn't appear to be any similar cars.

It was only a Ford Orion 1.8 but the autotrader etc. was nearly empty for 3 weeks so I put adds for the 1.6 etc. they just said they weren't close enough (even though the 1.8 would have been worth more than the 1.6!!). A real pain. In the end I contacted the dealer who I bought the car off - he said there offer was good even though it was nearly 50% less than what I paid for it 5 months prior!

B4stards!
