Buy as new as you can, they are pretty straight forward machines in so much as basically you buy a hull and an engine. Engine obviously being the expensive bit, i just had my SeaDoo rebuilt for this summer, doesnt break the bank but not a cost you want soon after taking ownership!

Most of the UK coast you need to be registered to launch a jet ski, I have the license but i don't think that it is a pre-requisite. Like with speedboats you can do the license but again i'm certain it is not mandatory! It's more for self peace of mind when out on the chop |
Buy as new or even better as lower hours as you can. especially important if it used used primarily in salt water. If it has a tailor check it is roadworthy as they are never cheap to replace. As much history as possible - these things usually only require a summer or winter service (once a year) unless really heavily used or raced. Check the hull inside and out for damage. Do
Make Test drive it for a few mins to get it hot to see how it really runs and make sure you see it start from cold. |

Oh another thing, check the bike starts when in the water!!! Sounds obvious but i've heard stories of people starting them on land, but when they float them they don't fire up.....
