lambda sensor

anybody know how to unplug the lambda sensor plug as not sure if it just pulls apart or unclips and dont want to break the plug (97 impreza turbo 2000 uk) got a mobile diagnostic guy coming today to confirm why car is running rough, infact it wont even stay running now it cuts out because idle is so low, symptoms: popping exhaust, very low idle - stalling, stuttering hestitation on acceleration.

Any dash lights up?

no dash lights up... ive reset the ecu which made it worse because it must of learnt how to run with the problem and now it starts up then cuts out as idles too low also when rev it up now while ticking over it doesnt seem like it wants to and is running very rough. im guna change the fuel filter in an hour and put some fuel in with redex to see what that does, dont think its the plugs as they look ok also dont think its the ht leads or coil pack as they look ok to no damage to leads and all 4 points on coil pack are sparking the same.

A good test to see if its the Lambda is simply to unplug it, as if the engine doesn't read its connected it can run without, where as if a knackered lambda is connected it could be mucking around with the fuel mixture on idle and cruise.

There is a clip on the connector, squeeze it and gently pull them apart. I did this on mine and the juddery feeling i had with the car on part throttle was gone and it ran fine, so replaced the lambda with a genuine item and all sorted. :thumb:
