Knocking shock on rb320

My rear near side shock has been knocking for a while now but all of a sudden got worst. Is the only way to sort it to just to get a new one or is there anything else I can do. And if it is a new one is there a cheaper option than goin Subaru and they want about £400 if I remember correctly and that's just supply
Any help would/advice would be greatfull
Cheers
James

If you take it to a decent garage they can rebuild it and replace the sleeve/seal or spray it with some wd40 and it is as good as new. Should'nt cost more than £50. Other option is get a set of used shocks of here or ebay and replace it with your prodrive spring.

Didn't know u can rebuild a shock. Is the spaying the wd40 on it sumthing I can do with out takin things apart or do you have to take it off the car and spray it. Also if I got a second hand shock off eBay is the ones on a rb320 different to a normal prodrive shock

just lift up the protective cover and put wd40 on moving part of shock and around where it enters cast part. Works a treat - did mine 6 months ago never made a noise since :)

Sorry forgot to put u can do it on car - just jack it up in that area and allow access.

I went round all my bushes, shocks, suspension mounts, spring seats etc. with WD40 white lithium grease at the weekend. The car is so much quieter over bumps now.

The RB320 has Bilstein dampers, STI has KYB dampers as standard.
With a bit of luck the cheap fix with WD40 will work. Bob

Yes baz you can,try spraying with wd40 as quoted and it should fix it,however if your shock starts leaking/sagging then bilstein will repair it for £80.00.I have Just had my prodrive bilsteins refurbed and they replaced the rods ,seals, regassed, etc, and they are like brand new now.:thumb:
