Adjusting Apex Coilovers Ride Height?
Evening all,
Just got the Apex Coilovers fitted today (same as BR coilovers) but due to the slight incline on my driveway I scrap the front splitter as I drive up and down the driveway  I understand that I can adjust the ride height myself - is this procedure correct:- ◦Jack up car (no need to take off the wheel?) ◦Each coilover has 3 locking rings, 2 at the top nearest the spring and 1 at the bottom ◦No need to touch the top 2 rings ◦Loosen the bottom single ring using the "ring tool" supplied ◦Grab the "core" and twist clockwise to raise the height or anti-clockwise to lower ◦Anyone know roughly how much 1 twist equates to? (0.5cm??) Help please as otherwise the car will be stuck in the garage :thumb: |

Sorry to sound dense but just to clear this ip in my own head.
To adjust the ride height you have to wind the shock body into/out of the bit at the bottom that bolts tom the hub? Is that correct? If so then I have mine set up all wrong as I wound the spring up to make the spring shorter to get the desired height. Any thoughts please? Thanks andy |

You need to re-set the spring pre-load. Undo the locking collar and unscrew the spring seat until you can just detect up and down movement of the spring. Screw the seat up to JUST eliminate this movement then screw the seat up a further 3 turns to give 6mm of pre-load then lock the seat with the locking collar. All this with the strut fully extended ie jacked up. JohnD |

Whoops! All you've done by winding the spring up, is to compress the spring. You haven't altered the ride height at all.
