Everyone used to avoid Northampton due to the over use of cameras.

Maybe they are now trying to get people to go back and start spending money in the town centre...

...oh wait it's still a shíthole full of leather jacket wearing forrin greasers.. nevermind :D

Not for long, I was chatting informally to a Northants traffic copper last week and he said Northants Force are currently putting a business case together to run all the camera's themselves and keep all the revenue from it.

Sadly true, the short-sighted council removed all the free parking and employed a fleet of officious traffic wardens to generate revenues. What this did was stop people from using the town centre, instead using the many retail parks or other town/cities such as MK. When the shoppers left the teenage chavs pushing prams and Fonzie look-a-likes took over the town and the only shops making money where the pounds shops and takeaways.

The town centre is pretty much dead for shopping but full of these chav's (with the obligatory £500.00+ pram) and Eastern Europeans and you rarely hear English being used - i kid you not...The Grosvenor Centre (Jewel in the Crown of Northampton Town centre) is full off feral gangs of kids and intimidating for many people who might otherwise use it.

I am not too sure given the current economic climate where it can be resuscitated back into life. The current thinking (if you can call it that) by the council is the dress the windows of the numerous empty shops, tidy up and increase sign-age and have ambassadors/welcomers to greet the shoppers. Not tackke the underlying fundamental problems that the town has.

Went to Northampton once to see rooferman, drove round and round the dump for hours due to crap signage and one way systems before we finally had to stop and ask in a pub for directions. Don't think I will ever be going back in a hurry. Other locals we asked had no idea and we got conflicting directions from 2 of them and ended up driving back the way we had just come twice. Even the dude in the garage couldn't help Also no one seemed to know where the country ground was inspite of it being a massive cricket stadium.

Happy to say I'm not from northampton.......lol.

It's a good town for business though.....well mine anyway.

I moved from somewhere far worse so northampton is a bed if roses for me.....

I think that Plymouth is still littered with them.
