Pre face lift and face lift head lights ?

Hi, can any one tell me if Pre face lift and face lift head lights, are the same. One of mine has been damaged on my 1993 WRX and there is one on a face lift model at my local scrap yard.
Thanks

No. One pre-facelift and the other's facelift.

Keep up...

Same FITTINGS, yes, same size, pretty much, ALMOST the same shape, but the PRE ones are more rounded at the inner edges and slightly less "tall".

Google up some images, you'll see what I mean.
PRE lights are now getting a bit rare:(

Ali I have an excellent condition set of pre-facelift headlights knocking around...

To fit the facelift lights i think you need to replace the bonnet, wings and grill.

just the bonnet and grill :)

You can fit just the lights on their own.... But the early phase 1 grille really shows the gap between the squarer inner edges of the phase 1.5/2 lights. Same with the early phase 1 bonnet - you can see the gap at the top of the later squarer lights more. But doesn't look as bad bad as the early grille/later lights combo.

I fitted a set of facelift lights plus a MY99/00 'honeycomb' grille to my old 1993 WRX - but left the phase 1 the bonnet in situ. Looked perfectly acceptable IMO. :)

Wings are the same through all the classics, I wouldn't listen to whoever fed you that gem of mis-information. ;)

Nope, been there done that, don't "have" to change anything, as explained by Joz.

This is my car after I sold it. A subsequent owner has actually cut away the bumper maw and fitted the Hybrid FMIC lol, but other than that the front end is how it left me. ;)

As can be seen, the frosted phase 1.5 lights (or of course the crystal phase 2 ones) and the phase 2 grille (or indeed the phase 1.5 grille) still look okay with the early bonnet in place, IMO. Note the way the bonnet curves above the later lights (because the later lights are more squared off at the tops, as well as the inner edges).
