Best front coilover spring rate for road use.

Done a quick search but came up nothing that helped. Anyone got an opinion on a good front spring rate for our crap roads.
Their going on HKS dampers if that makes a difference.:wonder:

What spring rates on there now? Why just front? You need two to tango.

Depending on the range of adjustment on your dampers, you may or may not have enough range to properly damp your springs. I'm assuming your setup is fairly stiff. So you might not be able to get the damper soft enough to match a softer spring.

For road use, with normal summer tires a spring rate of 5kF/4kR is decent.

Problem is, if you have, say 10k rates up front, you may be seriously over damped when using a 5k spring on those dampers. Only way to know for sure is to see a dyno plot at all adjustment settings for these dampers.

Mmmm right, I just bought a pair of front hks dampers but one of the springs is snapped. I will have to clean and have a look if it says on them what rate they are. Thankyou anyway.

What rear dampers are you using? I assume HKS coilovers too, right? Or are you wanting to mix a coilover front with a standard rear? If so, bad, bad idea.

I was going to yeah, have to wait and get a rear pair then.:brickwall

yikes, good luck with that. I'd just forget about it and take this is a lesson learned. I would avoid buying used coilovers, while you are at it. If you looking to spend little but still have some adjustability, then the BC's seem to be the cream of the low priced crop.

:brickwall:thumb: Thanks fella.

You're welcome. I know the frustration though. Who knows, maybe you can still sell them to someone who does have them and is looking to replace a dead front damper! You never know. You may be able to find a pair of used rear struts (unlikely) but, there are no rebuild capabilities that I'm aware of locally. though I'm definitely not a fan of BC's, at least you can get a whole new damper cartridge cheaply and easily from one of the various vendors. So there is decent support for them in the UK.

I'm just glad I only payed £50 for them. Will have to save my pennies up for new.:thumb:

Phew! Good to hear! It would have been painful to hear that you spent 2-300 quid for them.

I'd be gutted if that was the case.;)
