Looking for a small cable (photo enclosed)

Hi,
I am looking for an extension to this power supply lead (only need 0.5m). Its for a small media player. Its the same size fitting as my old Nokia charger but the voltage and current rating is different.
5.6v 2000ma.

I have scrawled ebay, a seamingly simple problem is becoming hard to fix.

I would have thought a trip down to your local Maplin would sort you out.

I took the lead in, they have nothing. Alternatively, the same power lead, but a longer cable will do. Obviously it must be the same rating.

Can you not just cut it and join another piece of cable in to extend it?

What total length cable do you need?

What media player is it for?

I suspect you haven't measured the connector on your Nokia charger quite right, as the only two sizes they've been using for the past 15 odd years are 3.5mm OD for the slightly older ones and 2mm for the more recent ones. I'd take an educated guess from the picture and the power rating that yours is the larger of the two, meaning it's 3.5mm OD. Since places like Maplins always refer to the ID measurement for these things, the size you'd actually need is 1.3mm.

As already suggested, you could splice-in some extra cable between the existing power brick and connector, or for a slightly cleaner look snip off the old connector, join a length of cable, and then solder a new connector on the end. Part # FK05F from Maplin, or plenty of equivalents on Ebay.
